Okay, I've read 2 pages of search results about audio sync issues and haven't found a solution to my wierd problem.

While watching live TV in the preview mode (not timeshift mode), the audio and video will perfectly be in sync for about 35-40 minutes... then I start noticing that the audio is lagging behind. If I hit the back button to go to the main menu, then go back into live preview mode, the audio is back in sync. If I just keep watching the audio lag will get worse and worse. For example, I left the PVR in live preview mode for a few hours. When I came back, the audio was almost 5 seconds behind the video.

Now I was thinking this might be a decoder option or something (I haven't done anything special like install FFDSHOW or whatever... my install is vanilla. When in timeshift mode or watching my recordings, the audio is in perfect sync with the video. This only happens when in live preview mode.

I'm using the WinDVD decoder because I couldn't get the decoder to install that came with my pvr150mce or the one on the hauppauge website (I think that one is called intervideo)... the install would start, then just disappear.

If this was a decoder issue, I'd think I'd have this issue with everything, recordings and timeshift mode, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Try using the 'encoder pass-through' deinterlacing option to see if it helps.

Btw, I suspect you're losing audio from go, but it's not far enough off to notice for 30-40. Kind of an hourhand effect.

Sync problems are about as easy to nail down as trying to figure out sound or nic card problems were back in late 90s. I have no live issues, but w/ soem decoders, get sync problems w/ TS and recorded files. Even then, TS could be fine, and only reocorded off.

Try other decoders, and turn off anything that could be adding overhead to your output. I don't envy sync problems, so I do hope someone has better ideas for you.

I tried that and got no sound at all for live preview.
