I have tried about all i can think of to no availe, i even tried to switch to vista, and for some reason things got worse and experience extreem stuttering, i think there is something going on there with vista drivers but will further investigate.

Any ideas on how to combat this anyone with a success story, maybe some advise on decoder/renderer, for XP and Vista

Thanks

Vista, EVR, and CoreAVC pro or CoreAVC standard for H.264. AVIVO or Cyberlink for Mpeg. The key is EVR, Vista should run fine on that. On XP, same but switch to VMR9 or VMR9 FSE. If you want HA, switch out CoreAVC for MPC decoders or if you could find a Cyberlink version that works. Again, HA is a pipe dream for a lot of people, I've given up on it and stuck with CoreAVC and AVIVO with no HA

Thanks for the info.

I seem to be running ok now, I found the vsync option and i am also using Catalyst 9.4 drivers and things are running pretty smooth in XP pro SP3. I no longer get any tearing, i do however get some pixelating which i do not get with my server, but i can live with that as overall pic is good enough for now

Do you use CoreAVC for H264 1080i sport? I find it great for most things but the panning in sport is awful to the point of being unwatchable. I have a version of PDVD7 that works completely smooth for that but sometimes stutters for no obvious reason which CoreAVC doesn't do.
I've got a Gigabyte 780G mb and am using the Gigabyte drivers that are based on 8.11 (I think - I was using the latest AMD ones until I did a complete rebuild but had problems installing them from scratch) and have near perfect performance other than this HD H264 issue in sport. If CoreAVC were smooth for everything or PDVD didn't sometimes stutter, I'd be in heaven. I wonder if ffdshow or the MPC H264 decoder will work, but until the next release of GBPVR I wont know... These work fine for 1080p Bluray playback so I'm hopeful.

No. All my recorded HD is from MPEG2 being in the states. I use CoreAVC for downloaded .mkv H.264 from torrents. If I had my recorded material in h.264, I would probably do things ALOT differently! :p

I did have MPC codec working great with most h.264 material on DXVA in Vista, but there were a few that would hang the machine so I switched to Core. It sounds like you have it worked out good.

All my h.264 comes from people ripping blu ray on the internet torrents. Needless to say, they don't always do it correctly or try to get creative with how much compression they get so it's easier to not deal with DXVA locking up on those times by sticking with Core.
