donovan_ict your file has too many errors. You should consider improving the signal with a better antenna etc.

Thanks mvallevand. I'll work on that.

May I ask how you determined this? So I can check my work.

This would explain why all the different codec combinations did not work,
and the errors were mainly on the high quality shows.

I have lots of tools that analyze ts streams, and they all show errors including missing and corrupt packets, that aren't consistent with broadcast issues which usually can be fixed.

Just to jump in here, I am also having the same problem. If I watch a show without recording the signal might stutter a bit, but it's watchable, but if I am recording that show I get this problem. I took one of the shows and ran it though autoGK and was able to watch it. (I will admit the sound/video sync was off.) Upgrading my antenna it out of the question at this time.

Is there anything I can do to tweak the system to make this work?

Just by looking from the ground, my antenna is not pointed in the best direction. It appears to have moved since I put it up ( back in the analog days) just a little bit.

Here's my source for best direction. http://www.antennaweb.org

I've switched back to the ATI Mpeg MUX and "Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder" combination, and plays most all correctly now. I'll climb on the roof this weekend to adjust my external antenna.

Thanks for the input on the signal quality issue.

Does anyone have a recommended tool to check for errors, not just the live signal quality, in my files? Also, is there any way to recover from some of these errors?
I do live in the flight path of an Air Force base, and I'll bet they cause quite a bit of interference when the plane flies over on approach for landing.

If I could possibly post process and remove garbage "sections", it would be worth the loss in content to keep the playback constant.

Update:
I've finally climbed on the roof again with a compass, and adjusted my antenna
for the best direction for my location. It seems now with the following configuration,
I've cleared up the issue with signal loss. Now my only problem is the occasional
jump in time when there might be some interference.
Thanks for all the help group!

BDA Mux = Mpeg MUX
Decoder = Cyberlink Video
ATSC Card = HVR-1600
Video card = Asus HD3450
all on a Asrock motherboard with Intel E5200 with 768MB ram.
