After finally getting my Cinergy C HD set up with add-on-card and CAM with smartcard I expected to see the encrypted pay-tv channels, but I can still only see the free (unencrypted) channels, and only in the preview window while mapping digital channels.

I'v installed the cyberlink mux and decoders which should work, or not? Am I missing something essential here?

Unfortunately, there's no CAM support in GBPVR.

Well, the CAM is connected directly to the Cinergy C card (by a flatcable) so I tought that was taken care of by the driver (or mdapi filter)?

It would be great if it worked like that, but it doesn't. Every type of CAM needs it's own coding in the calling application. So it would be a lot of work for sub to implement.

If that's the case I'm lost...

Sub: Is there no way out? I'd really hate to have to switch to MediaPortal, but if it's impossible to watch pay-tv with gbpvr I have no choice...

Yeah, he's correct. The CAM wont do anything in GB-PVR. Sorry.

To watch/record pay tv in GB-PVR, you need to use multidec plugins, which effectively do the same thing, but doesnt use your CAM or Cinergy addon card. It would use your original smart card though.

I didn't get that. The original smartcard is in the CAM which is plugged into the add-on card which again is connected directly to the Cinergy card via cable and not to the pci-bus. In mediaportal it's just to mark a box saying "enable cam on this card"...

Applications need to do stuff behind the scenes to use a CAM. Its not something that just happens with no effort in the drivers.

I know that! It just doesn't make sense to say that a plugin (or whatever) winn use tha original smartcard and not tha add-on card when the smartcard is connected via the add-on card. Is there no ready-made plugin that handles a conax-cam to be found somewhere?

Ah, I should have been more clear. To use your smartcard, the multidec plugin uses a different reader. Most use a "Phoenix" smartcard reader. I use a "Infinity USB Phoenix", but there are other cheaper ones about.

I'm not aware of any multidec plugins that user manufacturer CAM reader modules.
