I see an updated Win7 driver for the HVR-1600 in the Windows 7 optional updates. Details of update state published March 2009 and releases 21 April 2009. Currently using Win 7 drivers dated 28 Jan 2009.

Any pros and cons to updating? I'm in the "if it ain't broke...." camp with these drivers due to the rescanning required. I do however have an issue with HD recordings freezing and the timescale substituting seconds for minutes. I'm more inclinded to look to codecs to resolve that but thought I'd ask the community.

I recently put the 1600 in a Windows 7 RC1 64-bit machine and am using the 3/19/2009 driver. Media Center 7 works perfectly! clearQAM channels are detected, analog channels too.

but i wanted to get MediaPortal to work and after endless tweaking, I can't get it to work right. the reason why MP was because I wanted to try using the Xbox as the frontend and MP as the recording backend. MP wouldn't recognize the ATSC part (only detected the analog part). so i tried installing Hauppauge 4.8+ beta drivers (dated 1/2008 i think) and MP would then detect both the analog and ATSC parts but refused to detect any clearQAM channels (it would scan very rapidly, only mere seconds and then report no channels found; instead of the normal, long slow detection)

I tried GBPVR a few months ago but it was sluggish, even on a triple core AMD Phenom. I'll try GBPVR again when i have more time. in the mean time, I'll use media center 7.
