Replacement for "Check Email" plugin?

I've never used the CheckMail plugin so I didn't even know about its main screen feature. It tries to edit the main screen's skin on startup to add a Panel similar to the NowPlayingPanel used by gbpvr itself to show the currently playing song on the main screen. The CheckMail plugin is a legacy plugin so its skin appears under the skin directory but the PVRX2 main menu skin appears under the Skin2 directory. I'm no skinning expert. If someone who knows the new PVRX2 skinning can hack the skins to get the CheckEmail main screen panel to work in PVRX2 I'll gladly update the plugin code to accomplish this automatically.

Don't even know if the legacy plugin compatibility in PVRX2 supports main screen panels from legacy plugins...

No, legacy hooks into the main menu and "panels" do not work with PVRX2.

So that feature can't work in the legacy gbpvr email plugin. Not that I have the time, but if someone were to write a native PVRX2 email plugin, is there any way for a new plugin to display something on the main PVRX2 screen?

Plugins can do panels to show this type of information, and skins can display them on the main menu. The old legacy panels dont show up, but new styles ones would.

My post may have implied all panels do not work. It should have read "Legacy panels" instead of "panels".
