I want to use GB-PVR with a HDHomeRun for OTA ATSC recordings but can't get through the config.

Specs:
XP Pro SP3
HDHomeRun version 20090415 with firmware update
GBPVR10311
patches installed from v1.3.11 survival guide
EPG - Schedules Direct

Updated the BDA.ini to match my unit number and ATSC

[HDHomeRun Tuner #1]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
;TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner mynumber-0
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

[HDHomeRun Tuner #2]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
;TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner mynumber-1
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

Installed HDHR software and ran setup. Channels are detected and viewable with VLC. Setup creates a C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\Digital Antenna.xml file with the frequencies and guide information, but does not appear to update the C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\BDA\ATSC\ qam.ini or all.ini file.

In Config - Capture Sources I added my device using Digital Recording Plugin and selecting the HDHomeRun Tuner #1 which now shows the type as ATSC. I selected Schedules Direct for the EPG and added my account information. Channel Changer is set to No Channel Changer Required. I can save and Update EPG, which lists the local channel names.

The Map Digital Channel process scans using the all.ini file and shows several strong channels but completes with No Channels Found.

config.exe-native.log shows somethiing like this for the detected channels:

repeating over and over.

Within PVRX2 I can Search the guide and see the shows, but the TV Guide and Live TV pages will not display.

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, reregisterfilters, reinstalling BDA filters, adding codec packs, and hours of forum searching. I have run through the HDHomeRun setup again and tried alternate application settings in the HDHomeRun Setup application (GB-PVR, Other: ATSC/QAM, Other: ATSC/Remap) I have tried messingwith the all.ini and QAM.ini files, using QAM.ini manager and jumping up and down. No luck so far.

I'm excited to use the software, but am stuck. All help appreciated.

Are you running a firewall? If so, did you add exceptions for config.exe pvrx2.exe and gbpvrrecordingservice.exe?

You won't need qam.ini or the qam.ini manager at all since you are using ATSC. Those are to specify the frequencies for scanning for digital cable channels. ATSC scans use the all.ini which has all the OTA channel numbers and the frequencies are the same for everyone so no modifications to it are necessary.

Sorry I forgot to add that.

XP native firewall enabled, with exceptions for config.exe pvrx2.exe and gbpvrrecordingservice.exe.

I'll take a look at the logs as soon as I get home.

Everything looks ok in the logs, it just doesn't see any PSIP data. Have you tried with the latest HDHomeRun beta software installed? Also, double check that the Application is set to GBPVR in the HDHomeRun setup.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled HDHomeRun software and retested. Changed software selection to something else and changed it back to GBPVR within HDHR and tried HDHomeRun 20090703beta2.

Where can I look to ensure that the HDHomeRun software has correctly installed and updated what it needs to within GB-PVR?

Is this something that could be fixed by manually fixing the Tuning requests? I tried adding the cache file manually as described in:

GB-PVR Forums > Public > Support > HVR 1600 - ASTC Channel scan with no results

After manually adding the cache data supplied in the post to the Scan-1.cache file on my computer (which was empty) the Map Digital channels skipped the scan and showed the channels that I dropped in the Cache file. I could then map using these entries, but of course, nothing is previewed as these are not the right stations for my area.

Can I manually create the tuning request entries for my area? (Boise, ID) Is this an EPG problem or a tuner issue?

Thanks for the help.

Try the new 07/13 beta. From the release notes:
Quote:Firmware:
- ATSC: Fix problem where channels were missed in channel scan (problem introduced in last beta release).
- Improvements to signal reporting.

Updated HDHR software to 0713 beta and updated firmware. Rescanned for device and channels in HDHR setup. Rescanned in GBPVR. Same result.

Can you run a scan with hdhomerun_config and zip and post the results?

Code:
@echo off
C:
cd "\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun"
hdhomerun_config XXXXXXXX scan 0 c:\scan.txt

Change "XXXXXXXX" to match your device ID. Use "scan 1" to scan with tuner one if you prefer.
