i guess so. time for some logs: make sure you've restarted the recording service, then attempt to record or timeshift, then just post the files that have been updated since you re-started the service. (i assume you did install the moonlight encoder pack - you must have it or you can't record)
I'm trying to use the latest GB-PVR with a WinTV GO card and with the software recorder plugin. I've installed Moonlight, and chosen Moonlight in various places on the software recorder config dialog. I haven't tried recording, but when I try to view live tv, I get the "Failed to Communicate" message. My log file is attached.
I'm not sure when i'm going to be able to get build 15 out, very busy atm. I am planning to add all the standard quality settings at once (bitrate, output size, etc).
You can change the encoder, you just need to edit the config-recorders.xml and alter the regex's to enable your other encoders (they're normal .net regex's so i think separating strings with |'s will work).
It's difficult for me to follow the flow on this thread. Do I understand from a previous message that no one could diagnose my "Failed to Communicate" problem with the Software Recorder? One of my concerns is that I haven't chosen all the setup options correctly. Could that be the case?
tipstir,
I have two cards, and neither of them are working yet. One is an AverTV card of some kind. I can't tell which model, but it has a Conexant (sp?) chip. The other is a Hauppauge WinTV GO. As for the config, I've tried to do the setup, but I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly. There are many options, and basically I'm just poking around to see if any of them work. (I'm not very knowledgable on video and audio matters.)
In the configuration settings I definitely chose the Software Recorder, but beyond that I'm just guessing.
Also, I know both cards work because each card works with the software provided by the manufacturer. (The problem is, the software provided by the manufacturers is for viewing TV on the PC screen, not for viewing the computer's output on a regular TV screen. Screen resolutions being what they are, I need something like GB-PVR.)
*grin*, step #1 when stuff doesn't work = logs: make sure you've restarted the recording service, then attempt to record or timeshift, then just post the files that have been updated since you re-started the service. (i assume you did install the moonlight encoder pack - you must have it or you can't record)
in the logs there's a lot of gumph, but generally there's the cause of the error as well. Anything related to an Exception is bad, and depending on where and what it is there are a bunch of reasons and possible solutions :-)
