Has anyone else experienced a periodic chirp or squeal sound in their recordings made with hauppauge pvr-150 or related hardware? I can't seem to resolve it. It seemed to start happening a few months ago. I have tried changing the card, that did not do it. Nor does it seem to be driver related. I have also recently done a repair install of the OS which went smoothly. Have attached logs in case they help. Maybe its coming from my directv D10-200 receiver haven't really tested for that yet. No such sound from the other identical receivers in the house afaik.

I am using the same encoding parameters as I have for a couple years now.

It might help to know if it's in the recordings or if the squeal is inserted during playback. (Play the same file on another computer or try different players).

Its in the recordings. It also happens just watching live tv in preview mode and i also hear it from the hauppauge wintv application. I am using the audio line in jack on the card. So maybe not gbpvr related but was hoping someone had a clue.

I've heard chirps and squeals from my amplified speakers - moving the audio cable helped.

Maybe its that simple. I think I will just take the audio cord and plug it directly to some speakers to see if the squeal is there.

You might try unplugging the audio cable and trying a recording. If the audio cable is picking up interference, that should give you a clean silent audio. If you still hear chirps and squeals, perhaps it's in the card or related to something inside the PC.

I notice you have your audio renderer set to 'DirectSound: NVIDIA® nForce™ Audio'. If you set it back to 'system default' does it work better?

It's definitely originating outside the pc, either the cable is picking up interference or the receiver is spitting out the chirps. I was watching a live recording with the audio cable plugged into the sound card line in jack instead of the Hauppauge card, when I heard a chirp I backed up the recording and there was no chirp there.

I'll try one of my other receivers.

I think I know whats causing it. A few months ago I changed the arrangement of the pc and the receiver, putting the computer on my desk and the receiver on top of it. I bet that has something to do with it.

I think it's crosstalk, you are picking up interference from other operations of your computer due to insufficient shielding.
