Video Archive Plug-in Update

I and someone else had the missing .mdb error and brought it up in the last update thread.

Here's what I do:
1 - Copy skin files to blue skin directory
2 - Copy helper files to gbpvr root
3 - Copy plugin to plugin directory
4 - Fire up config... get error about missing db file

Fix:
1 - Copy videoarchive.mdb to gbpvr root, run config and setup VideoArchive, exit config.
2 - Delete the videoarchive.mdb from gbpvr root directory and everything works fine with the default videoarchive.mdb in the Jeff subdirectory.

Could it be the sequence of the install?
Are we missing an install step?

It seems that config is the one that requires the db to be in the root until it knows the db path.

I did not understand that it was crashing in the config app. I thought it was crashing when run from GBPVR. I was testing my clean install by just starting up GBPVR without first configuring the plug-in.

Now that I understand where to look, I have found and fixed the problem. An update is posted to the wiki site. Only the Video Archiver.dll file has been updated from the previous release.

VA is by far my most used (favorite) plugin. Keep on tweakin...

* Made the list of file extensions that should be treated as video files a configurable option. By default the list, which is case insensitive, contains mpg, mpeg, and avi.

I've tried adding wmv and mkv to the extensions, but it never seems to keep them. I've tried adding each individually, and both at once, and after clicking OK and then going back into the config the defaults are the only ones there. What am I doing wrong?

I just tested it. For some reason the settings do not "stick" when you stay within the config applicaiton and go back to check them. However, if you make the changes and then exit the config application (without going back to check on them) they do get saved correctly. The problem is that when you go back to look at them again I am pulling the setting from the config file itself rather than those last edited. I will fix this in the next release. For now just set them and save.

I was using the old DVD2mpeg plugin (was finding my audio was out of sync) so I wanted to upgrade to Video Archive

I unstalled gbprv and then deleted the directory /program files/devnz
I reinstalled gbprv and added the Video Archive plugin.

under the settings for the DVD2mpeg/video options I fill in all paths
Paths for DVDs stored in mpeg format is set to f:\video lib\
and path for archives is f:\archives.

the DVD to MPEG is checked on menu plugin

I did not install the older DVD2mpeg plugin ( when I did in my previous testing before I did a clean install) I would get 2 menu items for DVD2Mpeg.

It seems I'm in that bug fix here the DVDpath needs to be defined for the menu item to show up but I can't figure out what I'm not doing

So I think you are saying that DVD2MPEG doesn't show up in the main menu when you have only VA installed, correct? If so, I have the same problem and could never figure it out (even after sending the logs to Jeff), but then I did finally realize that one of the "color" buttons on the VA screen (maybe yellow?) will take you DVD2MPEG.

That was good enough for me so I left it at that.

Spartan, I did look at your logs and it looked like the DVD2MPEG plug-in was beiing loaded by GBPVR and I did not see an error messages listed. Odd that it didn't actually show up in the menu.

In all honesty, it is better (for me) that it doesn't show up on the main menu (since my wife will never use that). Once I found out how to get at the menu via yellow/blue I was happy and let it go.
