in switzerland, a lot of movies are broadcasted in what is called 'zweikanalton'... (i do not know what the official english word is for this... the words translated to englisch mean 'dual channel audio'Wink.

if a movie is broadcasted in 'zweikanalton', the left audio-channel contains the dubbed german soundtrack of the movie, while on the right channel you hear the original soundtrack (hmm... or is it vice versa? well... doesn't matter).

normal tvs are able to somehow detect if a transmission is in 'zweikanalton'-mode, and you hear only the left audio-signal (of course you hear sound on both speakers... but only the left (or right) audio-signal is used for both speakers).
with the remote you can switch between dubbed and original soundtrack.

i am using a hauppauge pvr-350 and before i switched to gb-pvr (which is great!Wink i used the hauppauge wintv-application which came with the tuner card.
it did detect the 'zweikanalton' autommatically and let me choose the left or right audiochannel (well.. not with the remote... i had to set the option in the audio-config-dialog).

in gbpvr i hear allways both channels.... left german, right english (or whatever language the movie was shot in).

it's not that important that gb-pvr automatically would detect the 'zweikanalton' (well.. would be nice to have *g*). but it would be great if i would be able switch the audio-channels with the remote... kind of a cycle...

,--> stereo --> left only --> right only -,
'--------------------------------------'

i did not find something in the forum or documentation (well... how could i if i don't even know how this feature is called in english...? *g*)

is there a functionallity? if not, this pos should possibly get moved to the wishlist section :-)

thanks a lot and greetings from switzerland

You could try setting AudioLang in the direct.ini file to 1 or 2. It may help, but I've never tested it.

setting audiolang in direct.ini seems not to have an effect. still both audio-channels. as it seems that this kind of tv-broadcast is limited(?) to switzerland, i can understand no one will put much effort on this.

thanks anyway.

Quite possible. I've not been able test this here in New Zealand.

I just taken another look at the code, and the AudioLang setting looks like it should work. Sorry, I dont know.

Hi, i'm also living in switzerland with same problem with hauppauge pvr-350 an gp-pvr: Stereo broadcast with two different sound-tracks on each stereo-channel at the same time hearable. It would be very fine if I could choose during sceduling of recording which of the left or the right channel I would choose an the selected channel could be splittet to both channels (mono) during playback. It seems not to to be a question of language but of user-control over stereo-channel handling.

also it would be nice to choose different audio tracks, some video files have 2 audio tracks (kind of like with dvds, eg 2 x 5.1 audio tracks, one with 5.1 in english, one with 5.1 in maori Smile). zoomplayer is the only application ive seen that allows you to switch audio tracks, every other application just combines the two audio tracks into one (if you ever need a sample video file like this i can send you one).

I'm also from switzerland and have the same problem.
Daniel's idea would be perfect, autodetect is nice-to-have.

Thanks for consideration

I also live in Switzerland and after much fiddling around got the dual audio to work.
So I can record and playback the dual language shows on SF2, TSR2, etc in the original english.

I'll post the direct.ini later today when I get home.

Note it required a reboot after changing the direct.ini this is not obvious. I was doing a lot of fiddling then just restarting the processes. An accidental reboot seemed to be what the doctor ordered.

I also have the very latest Haupauge drivers and am using the PVR 150.
BTW: I use nxtvepg (latest prerelease) to pull the NextView EPG stuff to an XML file which is imported by GB PVR

I must admit GB PVR was my second choice of APP. My preferred PVR is still MythTV. However, beggers can't be choosers.

Good work sub :-)

I'd also be very interested in this ("Nicam" option in next version?)

In Hong Kong many programs are broadcast in Nicam, i.e. both audio channels as described above.

On the VCR it records both and you simply choose the audio button for either left or right. Is that what the direct.ini option does? i.e. will it still record in both (I'm never sure if it is left or right or whether it swaps from Channel to Channel) and allow you to choose the one you wish to play it in?

Cheers

k.

Enabling one language from a Dual Channel Broadcast?

The fellow fwmeister never came back with a direct.ini, but Sub noted some rudimentary support here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...t=language

I'm still not sure how to enable it? Does anyone know? Ta!
