Help selecting new DVB-T and S cards

Hi everybody

I have been having issues with my Two Hauppauge Tuner cards together With GBPVR, for details see thread below.

Now I am looking to buy a few more cards and remove my HVR-1300 (because of the issues in the thread mentioned above) and I would like any input on whether the new cards I am planning to buy will work together with GBPVR.

I plan to replace my HVR-1300 with one of the following;

:Technotrend S-1401 DVB-S Card
or
: TeVii S420 DVB-S Card with Remote
or
: AVerMedia AVerTV DVB-S Hybrid+FM Digital Satellite+Radio & Analog
or
:Hauppauge WinTV Nova S Plus DVB-S


Then once I have purchased one of the cards above and got it working with my HVR-4000 I plan to purchase two DVB-T PCI-E cards (if I can afford it) to hopefully complete my HTPC.
The reason I want so many TV cards is that it seems all the good shows are on at the same time and that all the shows I want to watch are on at the same time as the shows my wife wants to watch.

The DVB-T PCI-E cards I am thinking about getting are the

“Leadtek DTV1300 T PCI-E DVB-T Digital Terrestrial”
(I am planning on two identical cards is that a bad idea?)

Any comments or suggestions on the cards above (or other suggested cards available in NZ) working together with a Hauppauge HVR-4000 in GBPVR would be greatly appreciated.

I'd get a dual tuner HVR-2200 instread of two of these Leadtek cards. These are a good card and work well with GB-PVR.

What are your thoughts on whether the HVR-2200 will work well with my HVR-4000. My experience with having two Hauppage cards working together with GBPVR makes me cautious.

i have a nova-s and hvr4000 in my pc and they are fine together
i only use dvb-s and have each tuner alocated to one frequency(tvnz on one tuner canwest on the other)
this makes sure multirecord works as i want the down side is live tv doesnt work if the tuner is already recording you have to record and watch which i do anyway so its not an issue
you could probably even try this with the hardware you already have

I will Have to have a think about that and may try this with the cards I already have, but not sure it will help me as I use DVB-T mostly.

no registry edits just loaded them and they worked
i think dvb-t is the same as far as frequencies go so you should be able to do the same
if the first bit works for dvb-s then you only need one new card (hvr2200) for dvb-t

I got a Nova s plus today and it works well thanks
Unfortunately I didn’t think far enough ahead again and I now need two satellite signals for my two DVB-S cards and I am not sure if I can just buy a splitter like with DVB-T. :confused: Can I split a DVB-S signal or is it not that simple?
How do you do it, do you use a duel LNB or split the signal?
Excuse my ignorance I am somewhat of a novice at all this.

splitter but make sure you get one that doesnt block power on one leg
otherwise one tuner will only tune when the other is recording(power for lnb)
ask as many questions as you want no one knows who you are

Just a note for non-NZ users.
A plain splitter is not the way to go with normal satellite use. You need a multi-output LNB to be able to switch between horizontal and vertical polarisation for each tuner.
