I am running the new GBPVR 1.4.7 using an HVR-1600 with FFDSHOW as my MPEG2 decoder. Here's the problem I am having. Comcast around me (Monmouth County, NJ) shows local channels in QAM in both HD and SD and some other channels such as TBS in SD. The problem is this, when I watch the HD channels with FFDSHOW doing MPEG2 decoding it works perfect. However when I try to watch any of the QAM channels broadcasted is SD, it stutters horribly. However if i go into the FFDSHOW settings and turn off MPEG2 decoding, the SD channels work fine but the HD Channels begin to stutter then. Is there anything I can do and if I need to post logs let me know. Thank you in advanced.

what decoder is being used when not using ffdshow?
[pvrx2 logs will show filters used]
what output colorspace is ffdshow using? and decoder? [avcodec or libmpeg2?]
possibly different audio in each? [ac3 vs mp2]

I have comcast here as well that provides both sd and hd channels, if you post your logs and give a description of the hardware you are using i might be able to suggest some things, but it sounds like it is using different codecs for each type, it could also be an audio thing and or renderer.

I use FFdshow and have had no issues with comcasts SD or HD channels i did have to setup a few things in FFdshow, but this was mainly to deal with deinterlacing issues.

Here is two screen shots with FFDSHOW displaying what is being inputted and outputted when one is good and one is bad. One the SD channels are good... the HD Channels are bad. If you need me to attach logs please let me know.

In your "good" logs, you are actually using two video decoders:

Code:
2009-10-01 20:30:44.968    VERBOSE     - InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge

That decoder is actually doing the decoding and then passing the decoded video through the ffdshow filter. You should try unregistering that decoder.

not sure what the name is but use gspot to help figure it out, i think it has a function to list all codecs/filenames and locations you have on your pc

unregistered it and it still looks bad. When I disable MPEG-2 decoding in FFDSHOW, the SD QAM Channels are smooth and look good but then the HD Channels dont work then.

Start PVRx2
Tune to an SD channel
Tune to an HD channel
Zip and post pvrx2.exe-native.log
