Had no answers first time around.. Can anyone at least point me in the direction of what things to try.

Is it the mpeg decoder.. or renderer that I should be looking at?

Live TV freezes. I can pause and it will continue. Change channels and will freeze again in 10 minutes to 1 hour..

Happened after upgrade to latest version and got no help with last post.

Went back to previous version and is happening there as well.. but had no issues with previous install of gbpvr in years of use..

Logs included in my other post but can repost if anyone has a clue..

This does happen to me sometimes - seems to be only on some channels, and it only happens when the screen goes blank as in just before or after the adverts, or sometimes the transition used betwen scenes in a film. But it has never happened often enough for me to really worry too much about...
Is it happening to you in similar circumstances?
I did think it might be linked to commercial detection, but I have this set to 'none' in config...

I've got more recordings freeze than I've noticed before. Both on HD and SD recordings. Sometimes you have to skip to sort it out but usually it sorts itself out after a few seconds (presumably the length of time I'm skipping over). I assumed it was the dish blown out of line and bad signal, but the picture is perfect the rest of the time. It's doing it an awful lot tonight which is frustrating the wife. Is there any way of telling in the logs if the signal is causing it? I am recording 2 things at once (one HD, one SD) but I'm sure the disk can cope with that being written at the same time... I dont have any commercial skipping setup and it's the BBC HD recording that's really annoying tonight (so no commercials to detect).

This is DVB-S on 1.4.7 and I've not had this issue before, started noticing it a week or few ago. Cant say I noticed it straight after upgrading though.

Only happens to me on DVB-T, and is no worse with 1.4.7 than before.
I watch BBC HD a lot and never had video freeze, only the usual issues with sat like rain, snow, and the occasional plane flying over! So I don't think it could be related unless it is something to do with signal levels or quality.

I'v also had this issue a lot but never found a clue to what's causing it. I war going to investigate further, but after I installed another dvb-c capture device the problem vanished, even if the rest of the configuration is unchanged. So it's still an unsolved mystery to me Cool

That's interesting as I'm wondering if adding a new DVB-S tuner has caused my problems to start. An extract from the recordingservice-native log:

The thing I am not convinced I used to see is the MS DVBS Network Provider - I'm sure there used to be some other filter at the start of the graph. Does anyone know if this filter looks right? Apologies to the OP if my issue is completely unrelated!

It will pause every time I sit down to watch tv.. Nvr did this before 1.4.7. but clean install of old version is doing it now as well.. Recorded shows nvr freeze.

Seems I must have something configured differently now.. but what??

I think I may have found a connection, lately I'v been watchind HD-recordings and with them the AUTO aspect-ratio don't work so I'v had pvrx2 set to Letterbox. After rebooting for another reason the aspect was set back to AUTO and the freezing reappared! It appares to occure after commercials (in live-tv) and when a comercial is skipped during playback. But only in AUTO aspect it seems.

Can you guys do some testing and see if you get the same results?

My HD playback was BBC, so no commercials. I've just tried playing with AUTO and Fill aspects and perhaps the auto was worse, but I've not really done a long enough test to be conclusive. Both did produce some one second pauses but equally both were infinitely better than watching the recording while it was still recording on Saturday. It's possible that the defects I'm seeing now are in the recording stream, I'll have a play with it in another player tomorrow and will report back.
