If I used your dgavcindex then i could extract the audio delay from the filename and add it to the mkvmerge as that has that facility.

On the pc the wav is fine, it was on the popcorn hour last night that I heard everyones voice being quite deep as the wav was slowed down slightly... I need to find out how to tell mkv merge that it's 48000 sample rate, as i suspect it's putting it in lower.

Whenever I load the ts file into Virtualdubmod using the Cyberlink Demux filter, the audio always shows as 24KHz on one of my machines. No idea why but I have to upsample to 48Hz before saving the WAV file.

Up till now I had been then encoding the WAV to AC3 but have given up on that - hardly worth the effort since it's much easier to just mux the WAV file back with the video (I use Tsmuxer) so I can watch the show. Most times I don't plan to keep the show so the additional space PCM takes isn't an issue. Should I want to keep it, Megui should be able to take care of that.

I was playing a bit with my limited HE-LATM files and they same to transcode pretty well with vlc 1.0.2 and this command line

Code:
vlc infile.ts :sout=#transcode{acodec=mp4a,ab=192,channels=2,samplerate=48000}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ts,dst="outfile.ts"}} -I dummy

I think I've given up to be honest. The he-latm stuff will just stay on satellite...

Didn't work for me - well it sort of did and then barfed. Problem is, my recordings seem to have lots of errors in them (bits lost or something) so when vlc runs and encounters these errors it spits the dummy!
