Yes, you are right LewE. After running the "ChangeEPGSources.bat" from the wiki, I was able to fix my problem. The listings are accurate and detailed. But the MSN scraper was nice too. And easy to use. I'm still deciding whether or not to subscribe longer to SD. I beginning to think I might not have a choice.

Back to the topic of the MSN scraper...

I did some further investigation yesterday. As I said, I was able to get a good download by running the MSN scraper from the command line. When I tried later in the day, I had to do it four or five times before I got a good connection.

Then I looked in more detail at the errors I was getting in the e-mail. By clicking on the URL the prigram was trying to reach I got the following from firefox:
Code:
The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    *   This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
          cookies.

I have cookies set at the default setting, which IIRC refuses third party cookies but accepts session cookies. I haven't changed that setting in years.

The URL used contains identifying information to get the correct lineup. Is this something that can be adjusted/changed in some way? I'm thinking that msn may have made some internal changes that we need to reflect in the URL. For comparison with JerryFan's messages, here is the URL that mine is using:
Code:
http://tv.sympatico.msn.ca/DiscoveryWS/ProfileManagement.ashx?action=create&id=&zipCode=33445&headend=FL09541-&mkt=en-US&dts=1252130407000

BTW, I tried looking at the Planet Replay forum, and there is a similar post over there:
http://planetreplay.com/phpBB2/viewtopic...19e23e39bf

Any help or ideas would be welcome!

From the Planet Replay forum....
I haven't had a chance to try it yet as I'm still at work.

meedio_user Wrote:I've been using MSN scraper for the last few years and have recently hit the same problem that others are having -- but I've found a solution that works for me.

As PG said above, the first time the scraper runs, it gets listings correctly but subsequent attempts fail. This is because the first time it runs, it downloads listings from tvintl.msn.com. Afterwards, it always uses tv.sympatico.msn.ca which no longer exists. The solution is to point tv.sympatico.msn.ca to tvintl.msn.com on the computer downloading the listings. tvintl.msn.com points to the IP address, 65.54.195.254, so you'll need to update your hosts file to point to the new location:

1. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with Notepad.
2. Add the following line at the bottom:

65.54.195.254 tv.sympatico.msn.ca

I've been using this for the last couple of days and so far it works

Once I made that change, I am now getting no satellite providers.

I implemented the fix above and it seems to be working fine. Based on earlier posts I unchecked the "Download as Canadian" box but still used my local PC. Seems to be working fine, but I only have the Shaw analog channels so the comment of the poster above about missing the satellite channels doesn't apply to me.

I don't have satellite, so I don't have the issue, but adding the IP to the hosts file worked to get my Cox listings back. Time will tell if it stays fixed or the author updates the program.
I may try mc2xml if it stops working again.

What I find weird is if I actually go to the website and go to the TV listings and enter my postal code, the satellite options are there. No clue why it won't come up when I try running the MSN scraper program.

Right now it doesn't show an address because it can't find any satellite providers.

Hi to all,

The scraper is still downloading but only up till 5pm(PDT) on Thursday, Oct 15th. I noticed this last Thursday when I tried to download and update the EPG.

Event though the scraper is set to download listings for 14 days and details for 10 days (maximum) it only gets them to the date above.

It is almost like the provider has not released the program list.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance
