When I try to add the 950Q to collect analog channels, the 950Q device won't show up if I select an analog source.

Under capture sources, I select add.

I change the recording source to "analog recording plugin", then hit "settings".

When i check the box "only show devices detected in this machine", the 1950 device shows, but not the 950Q.

If I select digital recording plugin, both 950Q and 1950 show up.

Can anyone guide me on how to get analog (using 1.4.7) off the 950Q?

Absolutely I did.

I found a similar problem, I believe, with v1.3.7, with posts indicating that specific problem would be fixed in the following release.

I assume that thread didn't apply to v1.4.7.

The HVR-950Q doesnt have a hardware encoder, so isnt supported for analog in GB-PVR.

That said, some people have managed to get it to go by installing the Hauppauge SoftMCE software, and selecting the "Hauppuage HVR-950 (Analog)" analog card option.

I tried installing the soft encoder, but I get a message "your wintv model type can not be determined, or appears to be unsupported. Please make sure your unit has the drivers installed, and is physically plugged in (if USB)"

Drivers are installed and USB device is plugged in.

Frustrating.

Sorry, I'm not sure what checks the Hauppauge software does, but you'll need to find a way to get past that that device definitely wont do analog in GB-PVR without SoftMCE.

Thanks, appreciate your replies. Was trying to set my dad up with two tuners.

The 1950 works fine, but his cable is providing very few digital channels.

I'll tell him he'll have to purchase a few more 1950's for my next visit at Christmas.
