Hi, I've double checked the following, but I hope I'm missing something simple...

I've got 1.4.7 installed as a server on one machine, client on the other. The client uses File Sharing and the shares are correctly mapped (and the same for the Directories tab).

I can view recorded programmes happily, but when I go to the EPG and try and watch live TV, the screen goes blank for a few seconds before reverting to the EPG.

I've poured over the log files and it looks like it is finding the server and requesting the channel... but then nothing happens. Sad

I've attached the log files for both machines. I'd be grateful for any pointers.

thanks, i.t.

What mux are you using? ISTR that DVR_MS doesn't work with file sharing on a client.
All I found from a search was:-

My recollection (may be wrong, but others will chime in where needed):

Streaming mode requires .mpg format - dvr-ms and .ts must use file sharing.

File sharing mode means you must wait for the file to complete for dvr-ms (can't recall about .ts.)

Server/client was designed for standard def, and high def may or may not work well (Did the 1.4.7 release deal with client/server issues?)

Correct. Client/Server support has not received any major focus in recent years, and was really designed for the old analog world.

Kind of correct. From 1.4, .mpg and .ts are passed over streaming mode. dvr-ms is not usable at all for live tv (due to shared memory used by Microsoft, which is only available on the local machine).

I was not able to get Live TV to work until I changed to "Microsoft DVR-MS" and streaming mode. I.e., I changed "BDA Multiplexer" on the "Misc2" tab of the config screen to "Microsoft DVR-MS" from "TS Mux" and Live TV then became usable on my client machine. Curious.

When I change channels directly by typing in a channel number, the new channel tuned to locks up PVRX2 hard after playing for a few seconds. If I change channels with the TV Guide, this problem is averted.
