Hello. I have GBPVR cutting off the last minute or so of each show. (all of them) The post and pre padding are both at 0, and all of the settings look good. The shows also start a minute or two early as well....like the post and pre padding are stuck. I have a single tuner and using postprocessing.bet to call comskip and then comclean. Commercials are being cut ok, the original also has the ends and starts cut prematurely. Help?
I have attached the log file zipped. In particular, look at the log file from the 6th of November, 2009. Smallville start and end was lopped off on either side.

You need to increase your pre and post padding. broadcast times often vary slightly from what is scheduled so what you're describing would be expected behavior. I've found 5 minutes on each end is usually sufficient.

You clock is probably just off by a couple of minutes.

Just curious, but why are you recording every show, one after another? Are you using this for some commercial activity?

Commercial use??? Really? I dont record every show on TV. I use this to control what my children watch, and it is a great application might I add, but commercial? uhh no. What made you think that?

Anyhow, I will try to set the padding on either side of each show. Perhaps that will work. I already tried to sync all the times on my two PC's...that didn't solve it.

"All of them) oes not mean I record every show known to man. It means that all of the shows that I record seem to have this problem.

Sync'ing your time is a good thing, but maybe your provider is a minute or two off compared to "windows time". So if it is a consistent problem, setting your computers time back one or two minutes would do it, and you should still be able to maintain zero padding.

I may have just look at the wrong log, but it looked like you were recording every show back to back. No worries if you're not. It might have just been a busy bit of the log.

Its worth noting that padding is considered 'optional' and will only be recorded if a tuner is scheduled to be used for another recording. ie, if you were doing back to back recording, and only had the one tuner, then it wouldnt be able to record the padding. So... if you're recording a shows at 9:30-10:00, 10:00-10:30, 10:30-11:00 etc, then those are the exact times it'll record and padding will be ignored (except before beginning of first show, and end of last show, when the tuner was not being used for anything else). In this situation you clock needs to be correct, and the broadcaster sticking to the schedule, or there is a good chance you'll miss the end of a show. ie, if it's recording 10:00-10:30, but the show really broadcasts from 10:02-10:32, then it'll miss a bit of the show. Hopefully that makes sense.

I wonder if you would consider adding a "stop recording time" feature, similar to padding, but non-optional. The TiVo has this feature and I use it regularly for sports, which almost always runs over. I've tried using long padding times in GBPVR, but since padding is optional, I often lose the end of games. The TiVo software warns you when the extended time overlaps another scheduled program and asks you to confirm priority to the extended time. On the TiVo, default padding is optional, extended padding (set up for a single program at the time the recording is scheduled) is not.

Currently, in GBPVR I have to schedule the next one or two programs on the same channel, since they're non-optional and I get a warning about overlaps. That works fine for me (I know why I recorded something no one would ever watch), but it confuses others when the sports program ends prematurely and they have to find the recording for an unrelated program on the same channel. A few times the family has erased or canceled something stupid, knowing no one would ever watch it, not realizing it holds the end of something they do want to watch. Moreover, sometimes, the next program is many hours long, when all I need is another 30 minutes and would like to free the tuner for recording on another channel.

It's a minor improvement, but it would help me.

(Should I move this to WishList?)
