Graph Recorder is a nice addition, and it has completely cured me of 'MediaPortal wanderlust' -- but it is not super user-friendly. It requires using graphedit and fussing around with technical stuff. The ubu plugins were more designed to be used by non-technical people.

For me, I think the 'if you can show it in graphedit' limitation makes sense, and integrates well into the program, because then all the features of the program work.
A lot of video is embedded in apps and things, if a video requires bringing up internet explorer, and then moving the mouse pointer around with the remote, and clicking on links, that this is just going beyond what GBPVR is good at.
I was never able to spend enough time with ubustream, though I did get it basically working. The idea of linking to the .rss streams makes sense, though I never played with this. A lot of work went into ubustream, I suspect this plugin is high maintenance to keep functioning.
Maybe what might be least maintenance and most straightforwards is a plugin that adds 'mms:' urls as channels. Enter the mms: stream and the channel number from config.exe/Capture Sources/Edit.
For ease of use, maybe provide a helper function where you give it an http: link and it searches for any mms: streams and lists them. But, make the user responsible for finding the actual link to the video.
