I recently switched over from a Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE to a Hauppauge PVR-USB2 and my recorded shows with GBPVR seem to have grown by approx 50%. (lots of episodes of CSI)

File sizes for a one hour recordings were previously just under 2Gig and now they are around 3 Gig. In both cases the quality was set to Medium.

Could something have changed in my system to cause this, or are the new recordings in fact at a higher quality? Are these file sizes in line with what others are experiancing?

I am wondering if a change in a CODEC cause this? I have two Intervideo Video CODECs installed V. 5.35.28 and V. 4.5.28.238

I'm lost on this one and losing disk space fast.

It's hard to tell actually. Nothing discernable, but I'm no video expert.

What file sizes to others get for an hour of recording?

As I now have 2 sytems running, I did a compare with file sizes back on the Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE, and sure enough, all recording parameters are set the same, but the file sizes are roughly 50% larger using the USB2 hardware rather than the PCI card. And to an untrained eye, it looks like the larger USB2 files are better quality.

There currently is an issue with the Hauppauge PVR-USB2 where live T.V. doesn't work. I'm wondering if this issue may be related somehow. I'm going to start a new thread for USB2 owners to see if they are experiencing the same issue.

Thanks all for your help thus far.
