I have a setup with 6 tuners, 2 DVB-S PCI and 2 x 2 DVB-T which are working well apart from 2 problems:-

1) new scheduled recordings tend to use a tuner which is recording (same Mux) rather than using one of the sleeping tuners, sometimes ignoring the preroll to do this.I have lost the start of some programmes as a result.
If I manually record It will use all tuners.

2)I am getting glitches over a few frames which seem to be related to GBPVR updating its recording Schedule. I have 2 computers set up identically and the glitches occur in different places in the recordings. If I clear the pending list and only enter the recordings on a daily basis the glitches do not occur

System:- Win7 Home Premium, nvidia 8400 512Mb graphics, intel 5200 CPU 2GB mem separate partition of 400gb for recordings 2x Hauppauge nova s plus, 1x Hauppauge Nova T-500, 1 x Pinnacle 3100

Any Suggestions ?

My guess is that you have the recording mux (on the Misc2 tab of config.exe) set to "TS Mux" and multi-record enabled. Multi-record is the option that allows one tuner to record more than one channel. TS Mux is the only option that allows multi-record. I can't recall seeing any complaints about problems caused by multi-recording.

Some punters (including me) have had problems with skips and jumps when playing back TS recordings.

The consensus seems to be that DVR-MS recording is the most stable. You could try that if you don't need multi-record.

Graham - Your guess is correct I am using TS Mux with Multi record enabled. I will try DVR-Ms
But what happens to H264 recordings, it is my understanding that DVR-MS Does not Support HD-H264 ?

GBPVR ignores the Misc2 tab setting for h.264. These files will always be in TS containers (I'm typing from memory ... someone will tell us if I have got it wrong again).

Yes, the H.264 will always use .ts recordings - my main box uses cyberlink mux for .mpg recordings but BBC HD always appears as .ts

It seems that the switch to DVR-MS recording has solved the Glitch problem.
On 2 - 1 hr. recordings done parallel on 2 PCs, one recording .ts the other DVR-MS, both the ts recordings had 28 audio re sync frames removed by Videoredo ( the original recording in ts had the video frames missing) with the DVR-MS there were no errors.
Thanks for the prompt help

Who said that is the consensus?

Perhps I should have said ... It seems to me that this forum has fewer complaints about fits and starts for DVRMS recordings than for TS recordings... but that's just my opinion and some folk may disagree and I don't doubt that lots of folk get great results with TS.

I didn't say any of that 'cos I'm not trying to get elected.

It seems that the Glitches I have been getting in my recordings were due to a poor quality Power Supply in my computer. Changing to a 480W of a higher spec from a 400W PSU
I no longer get the Random glitches
