Approximately 30% of the time my recordings (via hdhomerun) of NCIS & NCIS: Los Angeles capture the SAP audio feed.

I looked in both GBPVR's config app & HDHomerun's config app & the only other audio feed is the Spanish language feed. I verified the channel mappings & I selected KYW-TV (eng) on both tuners.

Anyone else have this problem? I posted over on silicondust forums as well since I'm not sure where the problem lies.

Oddly, even though I selected the English feed, the recordings that have the SAP audio appear to have captured the other feed:

The streams shown in VideoRedo when I open the file are these:

MPEG2Video, PID: x31
1 -- AC-3 Audio Lang: spa,PID: x35

Anyone else have this experience?

BTW: These recordings are OTA (however, I had this problem on occasion back when capturing QAM).

Watching on my TV live always has the regular audio feed...

I could see someone having this problem on the PCH if they used an mpeg mux. I didn't write an mpeg demux, so the only logic on selecting an audio stream is whether the stream is AC3 or not, and in N.A. they all are. For TS streams there is a lot more smarter parsing and mvpmcx2 will give a higher priority to English (or a command line preference) audio streams.

This isn't just on the PCH. I get the same when I play back via GBPVR on the host PC.

VideoReDo also shows only one audio stream in the file...

Can you supply a short one minute recording that exhibits this problem?

Would cutting a 1 minute segment from an existing recording using VideoRedo work or do you need something directly recorded?

You can cut a chunk from the recording with this utility: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=3

20MB or so should do.

Thanks - I just realized I'll have to wait for the next occurence since I have an overnight job that removes commercials (via VideoRedo).

I've disabled it for that particular show, so next time it occurs, I can cut a chunk to send you.

I have a pair of HVR-1600 tuners (over the air), as well as an HVR-2250 tuner (QAM cable), and my recordings occasionally end up with the SAP track also. I have had it occur with both CBS and PBS. Recordings on CBS are often out of sync also, whereas all other channels seem fine.

I have tried rescanning and remapping my HVR-1600, but there's no easy way to tell which channel is the one I'm supposed to select. For instance, my main PBS channel lists

10.1 OPB-HD (eng)

and

10.1 OPB-HD (eng(AC3))

Other than the name, GBPVR only shows an audio ID of 52 for the first example, and 53 for the second. All other fields are identical. I think one is in 5.1 audio, and the other is mono, but there's no way to tell other than making a recording and seeing what the result is.

In the case of the CBS channel, the only choices I have are the (eng) and the (spa) channels, and yet I sometimes get the SAP in my recordings.

I am currently using the TS Mux for recording, which my commercial processing later loads into VideoRedo for processing. It saves it as MPG, which MKVMerge then converts to MKV for better compatibility with my media player (TVIX M6500). Of course, this is all automated and I may not watch a show for a couple of weeks after it is recorded. By then, the original TS recording is long gone.

So, I can't help much, other than to confirm I have the same problems also...

I figured out my problem & it wasn't GBPVR or the HDHomerun. It was a combination of comskip & VideoRedo (which I use to cut commercials from my recordings).

1) VideoRedo output only contains a single audio stream. Not sure why, but it's unable to mux with both streams.
2) I'm not sure what criteria comskip uses when selecting an audio stream PID to include when creating VideoRedo project files (*.Vprj), but about 30 or 40% of the time it seems to select the secondary stream.
3) This causes the edited file output by VideoRedo to contain the wrong audio.

I've resolved this by downloading a copy of "sed" for windows & adding a call after comskip runs to place the correct audio PID for the station I'm recording into the Vprj file so that when VideoRedo runs, it will output with the correct audio stream.
