I have both Revo's (R3600 and R3610). Although I really like them, frankly they are not likely to cut it as much of a server. You would have to use an external tuner, the disk is 2.5", so slower and smaller capacity than a comparably priced 3.5" and whilst the ION chipset handles even HD video pretty well, the CPU is sloooooooooooow, so any kind of post processing is likely to be a non starter.
The R3610 with Linpus on it is a bargain though if you have a vista or Win7 licence kicking around. I'm not sure you will find drivers for the 3610 with XP.
As a client, the jury is still out for me. They are very neat. Even though they have a small fan, they are very quiet and they are certainly up to playing UK SD. I am still struggling to get them to play H.264 from the BBC reliably through GBPVR client, but I think thats a configuration issue as it flawless with Power DVD 8.
