Anyone had a chance to get a Netgear EVA2000 working with their setup? This device seems to be something worth investigating. On sale at Best Buy for $100, has HDMI and analog video connectors, and can play files from attached USB or network shares as well as Hulu, Youtube, etc.

Best of all - with the HDMI connector, it seems like it could be used for turning an old LCD monitor into a tuner-less TV...

The only way it could be better would be if it could be hacked to work as a real GBPVR frontend, ala the NMT or MediaMVP.

"Browse popular video Internet video sites for news, sports, and more"
would this mean you could use the web server to setup recording from the tv guide
program /manage recordings

if thats the case then it would be a cheap option for a client

Media extenders aren't PC's and their browsing capabilities are limited and less powerful the many phones. You might be able to write a web service that interacted with some of them but there would be some tradeoffs.

If anyone wants a really cheap full HD GBPVR client on an extenders I can't see why you would not want a refurb A100 ($99) or new EGreat M34a ($139).
