I dont have any UI changes, but was wondering if there was a way to implement a check when loading a client that the server was awake, i know there are work arounds, I am not looking for anything spectacular, but when just using a remote and the UI crashes with the red X i have to find a keyboard or log in remotely, to kill it, i would rather there was a check and then it either pops up a message that says server not active and then no load.

If you are up for it i would love a wake on lan feature incorporated in starting a client.

Thanks for listening to all of us even if you dont feel the need to put our ideas in, its nice to know a developer care what his community thinks

Here's a few ideas. The first one is a pretty cool main menu. As you scroll through, that tab pops up to give you more options. Might be more trouble than it's worth, but just tossing it out there.

A couple of them are examples I mentioned previously of having "h.264" or "mp3" or "5.1" etc icons or the resolution on the OSD instead of making that info a separate popup window. The icons in these pics might be a bit big and distracting, but I think it'd be nice to have as a permanent thing on the OSD, at least if you are considering giving the user the option of switching between a "minimal" OSD and a full one with lots of info and/or buttons.

The last pic's OSD in particular has a lot of buttons, and when you mouse over or press the "info" bottom on the left of it, it brings up the full episode summary info and whatever else. Seems like a pretty nice way to do it, although a full episode summary would likely only be there if it can do the "IMDB database fetching" thing I was talking about.

So, that's an idea. Even without an IMDB fetching thing, maybe a slim OSD with a "more" or "advanced mode" button that can then switch it to full bells-and-whistles mode that has full file info and whatever else.

Oh yeah, and some kind of left-right scroll arrow on the TV Guide.

I guess I can see why the MP guys seemingly hate mice. You either need to have "back" and scrolling and whatever other buttons on the screen for mouse use, or you try to keep things less cluttered and just force people to use a remote control or a keyboard. Pretty annoying not having at least a "back" button of some kind, though, which is currently right-click in GBPVR but would have to be on-screen or with a third mouse button if you go with right-click for popups.

I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

how about showing file sizes in video library?
[tho not necessarily the modes like filmstrip, thumbnail]
just size in gb, like 1.2 or 3.5gb that way only a 2 digit number max, and could handle from .1 to 99 gigs per file...or even skip the decimal...[files smaller than 1 gig aren't a problem]

really helps when going to delete files when space is low and adjusting bitrates,etc...

oh and sub_title available for OSD, [just shows title and description now]

In addition to the list, button and popup controls currently offered. How about a TextBox control which can take keyboard input and SMS remote entry.

And for those large music collections a MCE like triple tap feature would be the best thing since MP3s Smile. This is where you press (on the remote) 222 and the list will jump to items starting with the letter C just like SMS entry. But, unlike Tripple Tap it should work with all remotes and not just MCE ones they don't sell anymore.

The Music plugin has this now.

I asked the wife what her biggest gripes with GB-PVR were & was a bit surprised by her answers,

#1 was (I think) totally an NMT one (& now I know why she changed her mind about getting her A100 hooked up & still uses her MVP) so I will take that over to the NMT sub forum.

#2 was a way of reversing the date sort when she entered a folder in recordings so the latest recordings are displayed first, she also add she would prefer it didn't remember this sort order & she had to select it each time.

#3 was a way to have groups for recordings (like Myth has) so she can sort all my rubbish out of the way when looking for something to watch (I agree with this but for her rubbish) & sort movies into movies etc. I think we currently have something like 100 to 200 different folders under recordings so it does get very confusing as to what is what & for whom to watch & what has been watched by one of us & is waiting for the other to watch & delete etc. etc. etc.

Right now my small list Wink

I would like to be able to mix & match (I'm not sure exactly what to call them) elements when skinning, ie. use ListViewFolders for the folders & DetailViewItem when selected, or IconView for folders & DetailView for contents.

Obviously I second or third or whatever it Wink is date time on all screens & also going back to where you started after an external screensave (MLPanel) exits

If it's about the UI, it's unlikely it's something mvpmcx2 can fix so it might be better here.

Actually it's to do with skipping in recordings, mainly analogue mpg's that skip fine on the MVP but not so well on the NMT, so I assume that's an mvpmcx2 thing?

Nope GB-PVR, I'm just a dumb client. It's probably because you are still on 1.3.11 too.
