It would be really useful to be able to set 'categories' when setting up recordings - for example - 'Childrens'

Then, on the recording screen, being able to 'Filter' to show either a selected category or ALL categories

If the configuration allowed a 'default' to be setup so that the inital view was always a perticular category (and the default recording category), this would be even better (i wouldnt need to password protect access to the functions, but could see this could be useful as an option)

Cheers

When browsing the "search" results page, scrolling up and down the left hand show name column - display the description at the bottom without having to press enter/ok or whatever. Having to press enter to see the description takes you to the date/times of the shows and requires more keystrokes to get back to the list.

I like to search for, say, FILM and would like to just move down the list with the down arrow key/button to see the descriptions.

thanks for listening Wink

Oh yes - the resurrection of entering text for a search via the PCH/MVP remote would be very welcome.

1) Fast channel change in timeshift mode (eliminates the need for Live TV mode)
2) Failing #1, an optional onscreen reminder that you are in Live TV mode
3) An optional configurable timer that automatically switches to timeshift mode
4) Any feature that prevents "missing something important" from being my only reminder that I'm in Live TV mode

Carrying on from the time on all-screens option, I'd like to see dates formatted - where possible - with not only the raw date (currently in DD/MM/YYYY format on my screen) but with "friendly" text alongside, so you get something like:

29/11/2009 (2 days ago)
30/11/2009 (Yesterday)
01/12/2009 (Today)
02/12/2009 (Tomorrow)
03/12/2009 (2 days from now) <-- perhaps up to a user-defined limit

This would apply to recordings and the EPG, etc.

You could possibly take it further with phrases like "last week" and so on, but I'd imagine the logic for that would be difficult, and you might run into internationalization issues with such phrases too.

Well what a can of worms Sub has opened...but whilst it's open........

I like this:
Quote:It would be really useful to be able to set 'categories' when setting up recordings - for example - 'Childrens'

I would also like the todays time and date displayed in the seach epg menu. Or even beter some sort of graphical display like an outlook calendar.

A little bit more far fetched but how about reminders or even e-mails to remind about shows airing based on previous viewing habbits.....i.e. I recorded all of season 1 of flashforward....whay not remind me when season 2 comes on.....I know...difficult.

You can achieve something very similar with EWA's auto-search facility. Auto-record will go one step further and actually schedule your recordings too.

that's done by TvListings plugin...i use it mostly just for that feature...Big Grin
have to enable the panels in the skin you use, but it's easy..

personally i'd like to see tuner status available somewhere built-in...many don't have another screen to see the tray monitor, so have to close gbpvr to see what the tuners are doing..

and expand the Settings screen to more options, and redo the System screen with better defaults and 'nice' shutdown\restarts instead of the 'forced' ones it now uses..[which causes possible loss of data for open apps and db corruptions]

At the risk of being politically incorrect, I prefer the look and behavior of "Got All Media" (http://www.gallm.com) version 5.0.0.2. That is the only release I ever tried, but I liked everything about it. It is currently at 7.0.0.4, but older versions can be downloaded from http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Got_All_M...s#download if anybody wants to install it and see what it looks like.

What exactly do you like about it? I'd prefer to not install it here, but I'm happy to hear why you like about it. The screenshots on the website look a bit haphazard.

Another thing I thought of that would be nice as an addition was something like the My Videos External Player http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugi...nalPlayers except our players can be set up as a custom plugin. And then is a file association like windows has i.e. if file is avi launch custom plugin "MPC-HC" or VLC or Cyberlink or Plugin#2 or whatever. I prefer MPC-HC for playing files outside of GBPVR, but I can see the benefit of using VLC for streaming.
