I like my PCH setup with GBPVR so much that I am thinking of adding another one on the top of my server because it performs better when it comes to playback. I am planning to use a cross-over network cable connected to the 2nd ethernet port on my server. I presume using a bridged USB cable is not an option?

Right now I using the index page with auto load. I want to do the same with the second client. Is having a second share the best way to do that?

Given that I used the dummies guide to install, will I need to add the second client manually?

Finally, will I lose anything other than the slower response from PCH as opposed to the server?

Hi zaldwalk, you certainly could do this, in fact I doubt you even need a special cable, when I tested my PCH had automatic MDI/MDI-X sensing. How much configuration you have to do will depend on how could you are at bridging sub-nets. Personally I'd just put a ethernet switch at my PC if I was doing this and not worry about bridging at all.

What you will lose is a second video port on the monitor when you do need to see a PC screen, the "server" NMT won't be any different then what you see on your "client" NMT today. I won't get into configuration just yet, but I don't think you will have any major hurdles if you opt to go this way.

Thanks. I was thinking of just using static IP with a different sub-net. Given that all I need access to is the server, I am not sure I will have to worry about bridging. But I am a novice.

PCH now is out of stock. I am really sure if they had so much demand why not make a ton of them and keep selling.

The bridging only needs ti be there in order to use automatic upgrades or any other feature that needs access to Internet I guess. I suspect you do not have a switch close enough to the TV-set as you opt to do it this way.

I think I would try to move the server away from the TV and use the existing wire to connect the PCH. But I might have jumped to conclusions, that might not at all be the case for you.

With the two sub-nets there is also a possibility that you will need to change firewall rules and you might need to create a second share if you can't mount the mvpmc share by the other sub-net IP. Accessing the internet might require ICS. I was going to cross these when we get there.

Ok, I got the other one. I attached it to another small desktop that has wireless and bridged the ethernet connection with the wireless one. Now PCH shows up with the same MAC address as the desktop, but has a different IP address. Internet and access to other computers work like a charm.

I tried to access the share and I am surprised that it worked. Although not full screen for some reason (shows like 720p on my 1080p TV).

Do I need to change the MAC address in config.xml?

Also, will they both work using the same share, or should I make a copy and use a different one?

You should be ok with one shares with one MAC if both PCH's are connected to HD 16:9 monitors. To send debug logs it is a bit tough, you will have to Autostart just 1 MVP server and reconnect the PCH with the odd resolution.

Well, I added the MAC address to config.xml and that solved it. Will I need more than 1 MVP server running for both PCHs to work at the same time?

Yes, you need to AutoStart the number of NMT and MVP's you would have connected at the same time.
