Problems with ExternalRecorder plugin

Hello

I'm trying to configure ExternalRecorder.v3.zip, I'm running GB-PVR v0.91.12 (GBPVR09112b.msi). I've performed the following actions (several times) :

* Copied the files in the plugins dir into my GBPVR\plugins
* Ran GB-PVR config app and added a new capture source.
* Select 'External Recorder Plugin' as recording source.
* Hit 'Settings' button and get a message box "Please save the capture source first, then you can configure it's settings'. Hit 'OK' to clear message box.
* Setup EPG source for XMLTV and select XML file.
* Press 'OK' to save new source.
* 'Edit' source and select recording source settings button again and get same message.
* Save changes and exit config app by hitting 'OK'

When I go back into the config app, the new source is missing. Checking the Config.exe.log I found the following errors :

Hey SWK, I forgot to include some required configuration files, so grab a copy of the SoftwareRecorder package, and copy all of the .exe.config files in the gbpvr folder into your installed version.

Alternatively I've made build 3b available for download which contains the missing files.

Thanks for the fix - It solved the problem and suddenly all my aborted capture sources appeared! I did have one small problem, which I solved by editing config-recorders.xml manually : when select the executable with the browse button to display the 'file open' dialog. Pressing either 'Open' or 'Cancel' causes the plug-in's configuration dialog to close, losing any changes.

I'm still working out a few bugs at my end, but it looks good.

Would it be possible to ask for a couple of modifications, when you have time ? I would like to expand the recording duration (minutes or seconds) and the channel name in the command line parameters, e.g. {duration} and {channelname} ?

New in 0.4 - May 7th, 2005
- Fixed the browse button, and keyboard mappings to ok and cancel
- Added length of recording in minutes as a parameter.

Sorry Sean, Channel Name is realllly hard because gbpvr can record the same channel on many devices and getting mapping back to that device has to done via sql. (I could code stuff to read the db directly, but I'd prefer gbpvr to support the calls nativly - I might add this to a later version via the RecorderHelper)

I installed build 4 in GBPVR 91.12 but it does not show up in the Config under Plugins?

have you used a previous build? did you install the xml files too? can you send log files.

Thanks for the quick response - The channel name is not too important, I'm going to setup a small table to lookup the channel number. I will try the new version today.
