Just got an A-110 4 hours ago and I have some issues getting it up and running with my existing GBPVR setup...

- Updated firmware
- Verified that it will actually play a file from a network share
- Ran the NMT installer
- Mapped the mvpmc share on the NMT
- Getting a "Request cannot be processed" error when running the GBPVR link from the NMT
- Ran you syntax check program(Added below)

Hope you can help me out ...

Regards,

Casper

There is a case difference on the hostname. Your PC identifies SHARK:mvpmc and your NMT sees shark:mvpmc With a linux style editor I would edit GB-PVR.html and change SHARK to lower case.

The syntax check shows that you don't have a MAC address in your config.xml but it looks like you might be using a Trendware bridge that loses the MAC address and so you will need to use 0014D1C513DC

First time I have seen the mvpmc share with password, that's good to see. Just so you know, I could have displayed the password remotely. This is another reason I like guest shares rather than the false security of password.

Thanks Martin ...

After a bit of messing around I got it up and running now. It seems the NMT installer messed up my GBPVR installation. After running the installer I could no longer play video files through GBPVR, neither on the local machine nor MVP's or the NMT. Trying to run a repair with the gbpvr installer resulted in an error and a rollback. I have a feeling it is because I checked "Update gbpvr" even though it was up to date?

Anyway, it is working just fine now ...

Thanks again,

Casper

If you clicked update and you are not running 1.4.7 you would have problems.

I am glad it is working for you now but I'm sure there was a logical explanation. It actually does matter to me when people don't try to solve problems that might help others in the future. NMTInstall will not corrupt GB-PVR.

I work with software development myself and what I experienced seemed to me to be one of those things that you would prefer to avoid looking into unless necessary ... Im happy to describe what I did, I just didn't want to bother you with a problem that has been solved ...

- I was watching tv on one of my mvp's this afternoon when the delivery guy knocked on the door(GBPVR 1.4.7, server has been running for several years).
- Hooked up the NMT and messed around with Windows settings on my computers for a while getting the NMT to connect to my shares.
- Ran the NMTinstaller with the MAC of the NMT, not the Trendnet bridge. I installed with default settings, but unchecked "Install VC Runtime","Install GB-PVR","Install GB-PVR Updates"
- Couldn't get the NMT to connect(Because of the upper case issue you pointed out) and tried running the NMTInstaller again. This time I also installed GB-PVR updates and VC runtime, thinking you might be using another runtime than Sub.
- Looked through the files in \mvpmc to see if I could spot something wrong.
- When I got your reply I changed the case and the NMT would connect, access the EPG and view pictures, but not play any video. I rebooted the server and tried playing video on an MVP as well as locally on the server and it didn't work.
- Changed the MAC to that of the Trendnet bridge
- Ran the GBPVR 1.4.7 installer in repair mode and it crashed during the installation
- Messed around with it for a while and ended up un-installing then re-installing GB-PVR and it worked.

The first time I ran NMTInstall I did not save it locally and closed the tab, so when I had to run it the second time I downloaded it from another link than the first time and I am pretty sure the url's were different. Could this be the problem?

Anyway, I have it running now and I'm really happy with how it works. Upgrading to NMT after having used MVP's for years is so cool! Thanks a lot for some great software! I'll definitely order another NMT and a couple of dvb-c tuners after christmas ...

Casper

Thanks Casper for the clarification, I now don't anything was seriously wrong, if it was only video streaming there are many likely things to "fix".

If you had used a really old NMTInstaller that didn't use NMTInstall.xml then there could have been problems, but if you used the link to NMTInstall from whurlston's site or mpvmc.org, they both point to mpvmc.org for the NMTInstall.xml right now. NMTInstall.xml won't even work on an obsolete version of NMTInstall.exe so there are lots of safeguiards.

Regarding mvpmcx2 I am really happy with the NMT as a client to GBPVR and as a player of many file types. From what I interpret on the NMT forums, they probably are now out of production so soon they will only be available used.

Ok ... I thought the NMT still had a while to go ... That's good to know ...

What kind of future perspectives do you think that brings? Are you considering doing a c-200 implementation or do you have any other clients in mind?

From a GB-PVR perspective for many countries the original NMT's still are far from obsolete for playing most current media formats although HE-AAC audio has been a problem on the NMT from the outset. There are also some "scene" releases that require a PC and of course on-line and IPTV services usually work best on a Windows PC.

Realistically I've had one of mine for 2 years now so in Internet Years that is a long time but I wouldn't replace mine for me ION as a player. I have the C-200 too and it is a very nice player and it is getting better with every firmware release, but I didn't get any support for a client this time, After all there aren't that many GB-PVR users to make it worthwhile, and it took a $100 refurb to really start enticing people.

For client, I enjoy this hobby, but the prospect of finding a new client is not easy. I doubt if any could outperform the original NMT's right now. sub and I haven't even exploited mvpmcx2 as much as we could.
