Duplicate Channels

For some reason, my cable service has some channels duplicated. For example, ABC is channel 8, but the exact same content is available on channels 11, 80, 82, and 114.

When I do a search, every result is listed five times - once for each channel. In the configuration, I uncheck all the duplicate channels, and that keeps them from showing up in the TV guide, but they still show up is searches.

I can delete the duplicate channels in the capture source, but the next time the EPG is updated, they come right back.

It's just an annoyance in an otherwise stellar program, but I would like to be able to fix it. Is it possible, or will the code have to be rewritten?

You need to disable the channels instead of deleting them, or alternatively remove them before GB-PVR gets them (for example disabling in Schedules Direct lineup, or in xmltv configuration).

I un-checkmark the channels in the Capture Source setup (in the Config program), and in the channel listing in the Config program.

Is that what you mean by 'disabling them'? If not, can you be more specific about how to disable them?

When un-checkmarking them didn't work, I tried deleting them.

Yes, I mean unchecking them in the config app. The TV Guide etc will only show enabled channels, so as long you have them unchecked in each capture source, then they shouldnt show up anywhere in the application.

I've unchecked them in both places in the Config app, and they do not show up in the TV guide. They do, however, show up when I do a search. I get one listing for each channel, including the ones that are unchecked.

OK. Try removing them at whatever EPG source you're feeding GB-PVR then, and delete the channels in GB-PVR, then they shouldnt come back.

I'm using XMLTV.XML / MC2XML / Update.bat. How can I remove channels from that? I tried opening the XMTV.XML file, but that doesn't work.

I dont personally use mc2xml, so I'm not familir with it's use and configuration, but I'm sure googling "mc2xml remove channels" will turn up some useful info.

I didn't know where to start. I guess I didn't understand just what mc2xml was doing. You are correct - google found what I needed to know. Thanks...

To specify the channels you want when the EPG is updated, you create a text file with a list of the channels, and you add a command in the batch file that calls mc2xml, telling it to reference the text file with the channel list. Easy - just google, and you'll find the specifics.

Thanks!
