Ok, thanks for the sample. I've added this feature into next version, you can pick MyMovies.xml as a Metadata Source, and set it's priority on the Settings(1) tab.

I did not add the back-cover, since that would take a db, and skin change to implement. I may add it in the future.

Neat, thanks....so when can we give the new version a try? So will this change you made also recognize the front cover too? The back cover is no big deal.

I have changes to several programs at the moment. If I can find some time this weekend, I hope to package up some and release. I may just do via forum so folks can test, then I will update wiki.

If you're interested, keep an eye on this thread and you can test it out.

Ok, here is new version. I have not released on Wiki yet. Give it a try, several changes made, but my development time has been kind of hit and miss, so I may not have gotten all the bugs out yet.

You should probably backup following DLLs in gbpvr/plugins/common: WizGenHelper.DLL, WizUiHelper.DLL, WizWebHelper.DLL.

01/08/2010 : 1.0.28.0 (WizGenHelper v1.0.1.4, WizUiHelper v1.0.25.1, WizWebHelper v1.0.15.0)
  • MovieWizManager - Fix bug in Client mappings logic, was loosing all but 1 mapping entry.
  • MovieWizManager - When doing thumbnail lookups, pull back and display multiple images from the same source (i.e. TheTvDb and TheMovieDb). This allows the user to select from several different thumbnails for the same show.
  • MovieWizManager - Added MyMovies.xml as a source for retrieving metadata
  • Plugin/Manager - Fix bug where exception is thrown for folded file entries that have been deleted.
  • Plugin - Fix bug where thumbnails were not getting resolved correctly when running on client machine
  • Plugin - Added logging to identify bug where .iso play has an exception
  • Plugin - Removed Community3 skin resources from this installer. Use Community installer (http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Skin/CommunitySkin)

I gave it a try and it worked pretty good. A few things I found.

When I changed the settings to look at the mymovies.xml file as the primary source of data, I could not get it to work even after saving the settings. To get it to work I had to change it, save it, and then exit and restart the program.

It would be nice if you could use the "My Movies" picture as well, and prioritize it as the first picture to get. The name is mymovies-front.jpg and it is located inside the movie folder with the Video_TS folder. I could still use this but it would not find it on the initial scan. I had to add each movie one by one manually replacing the internet found file.

To add it I had to pick that it was a local file and then manually find it. Since the default folder is the Movie directory and not the actual movie folder, it took some time to look through all the movies and find the correct folder and then go inside of it and pick the mymovies-front.jpg file. This had to be done on each movie.

Thanks for the support on this adding the mymovies.xml file. This helped me get my collection all sorted out.

Bug. Fixed in this version.

Feature added in this version. Give it a try and let me know how it works...

I think the bug might still exist in the thumbnail settings in Settings(1). You can select checkboxes but the Save Setting Button never enables itself.

I think you uploaded a version with some testing still enabled. There are a bunch of pop-up boxes as the program starts up and ends.

The "config order" does not seem to be followed. I just have mymovies.xml selected for the thumbnail and it still looks for the internet pictures.

To get it to look for the mymovies.xml file I selected that in the combo box, but it could not find the image. There might be a problem with the path.

If all the movies are in the folder D:\Movies and you are looking at the movie Witness then the path should be "D:\Movies\Witness\mymovies-front.jpg"

Hope this helps with your debugging. By the way I want to comment on how easy the interface is to use in GBPVR. I told my 7 year old son that he could now get to his movies with MovieWiz, but did not show him how. I came into the room today and he was watching a movie on the Popcorn hour and I asked him how he found that movie and he said, "I'm playing it through MovieWiz." If he keeps this up I think I'll be able to have him take over the GBPVR setup in a few years. LOL.

I found something else that does not seem quite right. On the main tab "Add Content" I pressed "Locate New Content" It found several movies including the new one that I had just added. I checked the new one that I wanted to add and left the others unchecked then pressed "Load" to load the one new movie. Moviewiz loaded the new one but then proceeded to process the list of the 40 movies that I had unchecked.

After it finished I looked, and the ones that were unchecked had been added back into the database. A work around to make this work was to "Remove Chkd From List" before pressing Load.

Yep, actually that is the way it works, the interface is pretty lame here. It loads all entries in the list. You need to edit and remove the ones you don't want loaded.

I'll look at changing it so it works more logically by only loading the checked entries.

Ok, I see how it works now. Did you see post #17 above. For some reason it is not seeing the mymovies-front.jpg
