I may have a problem here -- I already am sharing this folder with Guest and I did this by selecting mvpmc Folder - Share with (not properties) - Specific People and then added Guest.

If I do Properties - Sharing - Advanced Sharing - Permissions -- I only have Everyone and Aministrators to choose from... can't specificall add Guest here.

When I just click on the directory (no right click), I see the following at the bottom of the window

mvpmc State: Shared Shared with: Jenny; Guest

I think its shared properly with guest ... just you get the ability to Add Guest where I don't have that option under properties...

Typed it in... still no content found... verified that when I go back to mvpmc - properties - sharing - advanced sharing - permissions - it has Everyone, Guest and Administrators all with full control.

Do you think the secret is in what Philly sent (below)

"Depending on configuration you may also need to enable the local security setting "Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users"

Start editing local security settings by selecting the start menu, select "run",

type secpol.msc and hit enter.

Select "Local policies".

Select "Security options".

Find "Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users" and set it to enabled if disabled.

Unfortunately Windows 7 Home doesn't support secpol.msc (ITS NEVER EASY). I've been searching the web to see if I can do this with regedit instead... ahhhh

thanks so much for your support (any suggestion on the above)?

Yes, I have a guest account and I've setup the mvpmc directory to share to Everyone and guest.

I have a disabled Guest account and I don't have philly's setting enabled.

What do you have for

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa\restrictanonymous

Maybe you need to have it zero.

I have HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa\restrictanonymous set to zero

I changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet001/Control/Lsa/everyoneincludesanonymous from zero to one and it didn't help.

Notice that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet001/Control/Lsa/restrictanonymous is zero but <same path>/restrictanonymoussam is one. Should I change that to zero?

Registry changes will require a reboot, did you try that?

yeah, nothing seems to help. I assume I should only change the attributes in CurrentControlSet and not ControlSet001 or ControlSet002? In CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa I made:
everyoneincludesanonymous 1,
restrictanonymous 0 and
restrictanonymoussam 0 ... rebooted and it still didn't work.

I'll change it back to how it was:
everyoneincludesanonymous 0,
restrictanonymous 0 and
restrictanonymoussam 1
