Will using BDA subject GBPVR to the same DRM and BF requirements that MCE will support? Or is that outside BDA? I've also seen links to Protected BDA, so maybe that's the extension that make things suck.

Possibly. We just dont know yet.

Much of the DRM stuff in MCE is implemented in layers above the BDA drivers, which GB-PVR provides an alternative implmentation for.

Sorry about the double post. My original reply never showed up.

Anyhow, I'm happy to hear that GeeBo won't be hindered by any attempts MS may make to implement DRM on pre-broadcast flag equipment (you know they will). I'd hate to have to look for an alternative to GeeBo as well as Windows. I can't imaging trying to setup a linux box with MythTV or something of the like. That's just a configuration nightmare!

Wondered if anyone has got this card running on XP (not MCE).

It is cheap, and if it ends up supporting QAM, as is rumored, this could be my first hdtv card.

Wondered why anyone is considering a hardware HDTV solution in the US except in case where there is no cable service. Per july 1, 2005 all cableboxes should provide an IEEE1394/Firewire Port output which can be used to display/record non encrypted digital or HDTV channels.How to do this for window xp without an HTTV card can be found in http://replayguide.sourceforge.net/dct6412/index.html. Maybe somebody can translate this into an need US application for GB-PVR.

Unfortuntaley I wont be providing IEEE1394/Firewire HDTV support. That said, there are interfaces in place for someone to write their own recording plugin, and I'm happy to help provide information for anyone that does implement this.

Question for sub.

Would you be interested in working with a DVICO Fusion HDTV5 card? I'm in the process of aquiring the card so I thought I'd offer you access to my PC if you have the time. The Fusion HDTV5 does have BDA drivers but has a different chipset (LG vs. Connexant) than its predicessors. (sp?)
