I have a dual tuner soon to be quad, 2 cards and would like to map analog channels say below 100, atsc above 100 qam above 200 and alternate analog above 300 and change the names so I know what tuner I'm using

I can't seem to find where these are mapped out at. A couple of times the atsc mappings have disappeared on me and had to remap them. How can I back this up?

Thanks

I believe the numbering can be done on the channels tab in config.

you can have it generate the xml file with the new numbers before gbpvr sees it.

Names come from the xml document, otherwise when you update the EPG, gb pvr doesn't know where to put each channels data.

So there is currently no way to adjust the displayed channel name in the epg?

I've been playing with changing the channel numbers and have run into a problem. I can only use whole numbers instead of 24.1, 24.2, 24.3 or 24-1, 24-2, 24-3...the subchannels. Is there any trick to this?

Hi,
Think I had a similar issue, using a North American ATSC tuner here.
What I wound up doing was editing the database, gbpvr.db3

using an opensource database browser called.

"SQLite Database Browser"
It can be found on sourceforge at:

http://sqlitebrowser.sourceforge.net/

After scanning channels and saving however gbpvr preferred to Name / Number them
I closed all gbpvr processes, then backed up the original gbpvr.db3 database for safe keeping in case i screwed it up, then used the above application to edit the Channel Numbers in the table named "CHANNEL" to the way I wanted them. In my case I wanted the "Channel Number" to be like 21, 22, 23 for a station that was 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 51 for a station that was 5.1 and so on...
At the time I wanted the Names to match what I had in my XMLTV Scripts that I use to parse the EPG info Broadcast Over The Air in to a single .XML file,
suitable for import in to GBPVR...

BTW, I posted a Perl Script recently to do this with the aid of TSReader, here in another thread. Since I don't think it's worth paying for any sort of Schedule Service for just a handful of Broadcast Stations (16-20 locally here) , had to come up with SOMETHING to populate the EPG in gbpvr. Not hijacking the topic, just noticed your also in North America so likely ur faced with the same issues as I was.

I see what your saying, instead of 2.1 use 21 and for 24.1 use 241 like multiplying the channel number by 10 to move the decimal place...I can work with that.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions!

NP, another workaround might be to just leave them as is, and use Channel Icons in your EPG. That way the channel ICON could be displayed in ur epg next to the channel names instead of the channel numbers. That is if ya can find suitable Channel ICONS for all your local Channels (Some oddball SUB channels may be tougher to find)...I did both///

I find 90% of the fun with gbpvr has been finding ways to configure it. The other 10% is watching TV. thanks to the author(s) for this. luvin it.

Don't worry about hijacking the the thread. I also agree that figuring out stuff configuration is half the fun. We must be true computer geeks LOL

GBPVR has proven overtime to be nice and stable on my computer.
