Black Screen on Certain Recordings

I have an intermittent problem with some recordings not playing. When I hit PLAY, I get a black screen and PVRX2 becomes unresponsive and I have to kill it with Task Manager. The most recent instance was with a cable box recording via firewire, Graphrecorder and the ATI mux. PVRX2-native log snippet attached. If this is something related to the firewire recordings, that's OK, cause I realize they are "unsupported". An additional note is that this has only occurred after switching to Win7. I could provide a chunk of the recording if that would help.

I have similar problems with the HD-PVR with firewire tuning, I speculate because the decoder can't keep with the resolution changes. I partially solved it by have GraphEdit do the tuning and adding a delay, for me it is a hefty 3.1 seconds using the SA 4250HD STB.

I you are on to something with the delay. I noticed after going to Win7 that graphs for firewire capture took longer to start.

Are you using carpeVideo's GraphRecorder? Where do you set the delay? The External Recorder tab?

I recently changed the Graphrecorder config to use GBPVR for channel change rather than GraphRecorder. According to cV, GBPVR changes channel after the graph is started, while Graphrecorder changes before. With GraphRecorder changing channels, I had repeated channel changes when starting a recording as it tried to verify that the file was growing, sometimes resulting in a 0 byte recording. Other than this black screen for one recording, the changing with GBPVR seems better, no 0 byte so far.

Perhaps we should take this to the Graphrecorder thread?

For the current troublesome recording, when played, the audio starts with a black screen and then stops. When the RESUME/RESTART dialog box is supposed to pop up, it is not visible, there is just a black screen. But, the dialog box is there; I can hit enter to resume or right-arrow-enter to restart.

I have yet to get a zero byte file but I use the HDPVR because I don't have Copy Freely 5C on any channels on this STB. What has worked best for me setting GraphRecorder to tune (via Timmmoore's channel.exe) the station for a 3 second pause, and the add a second pause for 1.5 seconds. I also need to turn off preview for live tv.
