The tuning assistant won't be able to use the recording plugin. Try finding out what the channels for your area are. (Maybe the BBC site has them somewhere?) Otherwise just try sequential channels :-)

Ah of course, yes the source channel numbers do look different to I remember from the numbers found in the Pinnacle scan in the capture sources \ edit recording source. I think I remember roughly the correct numbers for each channel (I had to scan them enough times using the Pinnacle sw...). In capture source\ Edit recording source window do I just highlight the source number and change it for the correct number for BBC2 etc? thanks norm

Sorted can't wait to get home and try it although there will be no fine adjustment willl there? Really want to get this working, GB-PVR looks one of the most professional and useful front end of the 3rd party apps I've found, will I be able to record live TV using my card (cos I haven't got it to work yet or DVD's). If I wanted to get digital channels what card suits GB-PVR best and will I have to have an external aerial? thanks again, J

check the gb-pvr www front-page, there's a list of suggested cards there.

hi,
- I have just recently started working with GBPVR. Have got Live TV view working ok on my win xp (sp2) box (little green icon shows in corner). Every time I try and record something though it fails. I have read through all the posts in this thread for clues and gone through the logs which show the errors occur at line 574,126 and 790. I have wintv model 627 card - its gettin on but I think it should work ok. I've downloaded and installed the moonlight decoders, encoders etc Anyway I think this is close to working. Once I know I can record ok I will look at buying Media MVP. I've included all the logs in a zip file. Apologies if I've just butted in with this, but it seemed the right thread! BTW I assume I can kick off a recording half way through a TV program I dont need to actually wait for a scheduled recording to kick in before it will record correctly do I?

No problem, just jump straight in :-)
It seems that you're trying to record audio from the video port on the capture card. You need to change you Audio Capture Pin to something like 'Audio'. If the drivers for you card don't support this (check you have the latest avalible drivers), then you'll need to record from you audio card's Line In and use a audio cable to connect the tv sound to the line in at the back of your pc. If you want to start recording half-way through a program, you can either just schedule it to record (and it will start immediatly). Alternativly hit pause (or ctrl-q), which will go into timeshift mode, and then you can hit record (not listed with a keyboard shortcut)

Cool I found the channel numbers I'd used before and got all the channels now except I have no ITV, could that just be a weak signal from using an internal aerial?

hrm, check that you're using the right channel at the bbc's transmitter information page. It looks like there's a lot to choose from so maybe the bbc channels are VHF, and itv is UHF (or visa versa). Also the Vertical or Horizontal polarity makes a big difference, so moving the antenna might help. (Horridly you might find it has to be one way for ITV, and the other for all the bbc channels)
