How do I put recordings from a previous install back into the "recordings" database?

I have been tinkering with gbpvr, my hardware, and various codecs quite a bit and so I have reinstalled both gbpvr and windows once or twice so far. My question is, how can I get the recordings from a previous installation to show up in the "ready recordings" menu again with all of the title, subtitle, and time/date information that they had after I first recorded them? Also, how might I back up and reinstall this information in the future?

Keep a copy of gbpvr.mdb before you do anything nasty to your system then copy it back in when you're finished.

With respect to putting old info back in...it's theoretically possible (if you have the original gpvr.mdb) but unless you know how to hack a database of this sort then you're out of luck. On the other hand, I believe one of the video plug-ins will at least allow you to relist your recordings but won't be able to include the original sub-titles/descriptiones etc.

ah, very good to know. I've only got a few recordings so far, so I can live without the old info.

Also be aware that the database structure *can* change between releases of gbpvr, so an old backup doesn't necessarily work after an upgrade. But it *can* work, if the structure hasn't been changed.

sub usually includes a sql command to update the database, so you can use this command to update old databases to a newer database, keeping the info. so yeah backup your gbpvr.mdb from time to time
