It's possible with an AVR, since I don't have one, but my optical out doesn't have a problem. Are you using PCM or passthrough?

 Good God men. Get yourselves a receiver! Even something crappy would improve your experience 10 fold.
Everything is set to RAW on the PCH. My A-100 doesn't have optical, just S/PDIF for digital, which I'm too lazy to test, but would expect better performance from. Literally, there is almost a 3 count when swtiching tracks. Since the track is playing and I'm missing the first 2 secs, it's not a network issue.

If this comment was aimed at me I just googled the Denon AVR-1909 & at that price I would be looking at a new TV not a receiver Maybe in the past when I could actually hear properly I may have considered something but now with my illness I am often almost totally deaf in one ear & not the best in the other & I couldn't justify it even if I could afford it .

That being the case, I would think that a receiver would be even more beneficial. A stereo receiver for music would far surpass the volume output of your TV and if you got a HT receiver, you would benefit from a dedicated center channel for dialog. Most come equiped with features that modulate the volume so that quiet scenes are always audible and extra loud scenes are toned down. You can even raise the volume of the center channel independently.
This model, refurb from ecost.com, has all those features for $145. http://www.ecost.com/Detail/Receivers/De...=155438257 You can probably do better than this with larger consumer grade brands and the used market is huge too. Just check your classifieds.

I do have a digital receiver but I don't use HDMI. As for passthrough, that's really tough to do with a PC, but even with LPCM have you tried your AVR hooked up to a PC using HDMI to hear if you have any audio drop outs with GBPVR?

I'm certain there's a device out there to fit your budget. Even a very cheap stereo with Aux inputs will out perform your TV speakers. Beware the upgrade bug though! =) mvallevand Wrote:I do have a digital receiver but I don't use HDMI. Currently, I have a 360 hooked up, but with component and optical, which plays flawlessly from the same WMP source. I do have another 360 though that has HDMI which I could try to verify the problem, but I seriously doubt NMT would or could do anything to fix it. I see it as more of a buyer beware issue. |
