I'd like to rescan for channels in GBPVR remotely but when I try using terminal services with the console switch I get "an unhandled win32 exception occured in Config.exe" error and no changes are made.
Is there a way around this or do I have to get someone to stand at the server?

You can only use it over terminal serivces if the server is on Vista or Win7.

If you're on XP you can use VNC though.

It's on Small Business Server 2003 with terminal services in admin mode, accessing it is no problem. The error I'm guessing is down to problems accessing the display directly when it brings up the preview window. Does VNC work when scanning for channels?

Yeah, I imagine this is the same problem as people encounter on XP, with Direct3D and VMR9 (used by the preview window) not being available over terminal services. The terminal server in Vista/Win7(and I guess Windows Server 2008) is much more advanced and allows these to be used remotely.

Yes, it works on XP.

Thinking about it IIRC Server 2003 uses the XP Kernel so it makes sense that the rest is similar, I'll try VNC and report back.
GBPVR is an excellent product BTW

VNC sometimes coughs if the video hook driver is used with my NVidea boards. Easy enough to turn the hook driver off for the duration that remote tv video is needed though.
I don't get the unhandled exception errors, just a blank where the video should be.

Which version of VNC do you use? There seems to be many versions, realvnc, tightvnc are the first 2 that come up on google.

After finding out that sub used ultravnc for remote support I changed to that one. http://www.uvnc.com/

That worked! It gave a message about something that couldn't be installed using RDP and then worked. Thanks for your help!
