I'm sure I'm using the wrong terminology here. I'm new to the world of QAM and Channel Mapping.

I have found that when I do a Channel Scan, the results include two general types of channels: those that end with (000) and those that end with (AC3). The only ones that seem to map to EPG stations are those ending with (000). It would be very helpful if we could filter the results list to show only the (000) channels. This would reduce considerably the number of channels we have to scroll through when mapping.

The (000) results are usually MPEG 2.0 audio where the AC3 channels are 5.1

Thanks for that information.

Compared to analog stations, dealing with digital broadcasts seems to be several orders of magnitude more complex and confusing and there seems to be no place to learn quickly about the issues we have to deal with in making GBPVR work with digital television.

Not from my cableco. My (000) streams are ac3 and I find they are the the ones that I should typically select given the choice. This is very specific to GBPVR scans, TSReader shows them both AC3 (the one I don't want is marked " Audio type: visual impaired commentary"

Maybe see my post on why some might consider GB-PVR "difficult" http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post341743

To be fair, a lot of those issues are not unique to GBPVR.

It never was intended to be. Not to sugarcoat it, GB-PVR has had some scanning issues that make digital television harder than 7MC, SageTV or even MythTV, and you do have to be vigilant with patches. For good news, since I wrote that, I have purchased an HD-PVR and it is just as easy to set up with GB-PVR as any analog system in the bygone era.

But something like DVBViewer "just works" scans everything and creates the channel list complete. Any changes and an update scan run just does what you expect of it. The rest of GBPVR is much better, but scanning digital stuff is not its strongest feature,

I meant things like the EPG issue which is also an issue with Media Portal, MythTV, etc. Only paid programs like SageTV has included EPG data and Media Center has it's own issues.

There is some scanning improvements in the next release which will make this more straight forward.
