I would like to NOT record the Audio Description when I record things on say PBS Nova. I use a WinTV HVR-1600 to record ATSC to .TS with GBPVR v1.2.9

What do you mean by "audio description"?
Do you mean it doesnt record any audio, and you end up with a recording with just video?
The audio feed that is broadcast for the blind. Describing the actions taking place on the show. They speak between the sentences of the host or narrator.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_description I would like to not record this part of the broadcast. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Would using another option be better? BDA?
TY for fast replies.

Personally I prefer using 'TS Mux' and recording everything, exactly like you're currently doing. Extra audio streams being present doesnt bother me.
If you wanted just a specific audio/video channel, then you could probably switch to use the Microsoft DVR-MS mux.

There are many utilities which allow you to remove an audio stream or subtitle stream by remuxing it. IMO, the resulting disk space saving isn't worth the effort.

How did you become aware of the extra audio channel?
Are you having problems playing back the recording - with unwanted audio? That is a slightly different matter. I suppose many of my digital recordings have streams that I don't know about unless I do something odd or with another lump of software that then makes me aware that they exist.

I think sometimes the wrong audio is used as the default, broadcasted incorrectly by the broadcatser maybe?
It's happened a few times for us, a single episode of Neighbours was audio described when viewed on an MVP last week, but all other episodes have been OK since. Also, when viewing BBC HD on the PCH we always had to select the correct audio channel as it defaulted to audio described, but since moving to PCH2 it's all OK now. Martin, can you select audio channels using the remote when viewing on an MVP with mvpmcx2?
