Recording will not start, can't be cancelled and prevents other recordings.

It's been nearly a year since I've had a problem like this, although I used to be plagued by them. I have a recording that simply didn't start when it was supposed to. I now can't cancel it, and any recordings pending behind it have become similarly stuck. Restarting the recording service and/or the computer itself does no good; I've tried about a million times.

It's been awhile since I've logged in, and I am now discovering (to my dismay) that the best freeware ever released is now considered "legacy"; I can only hope that community support for it will continue for years, as I certainly can't afford the time to start from scratch. Hopefully, someone here can help with this problem with 1.4.7

I can see the error occuring, but unfortunately there isnt enough info to go on to determine the cause. If you were about to find steps to reliably reproduce it, I could probably more clearly identify the cause for you - but if you havnt had a problem like this for nearly a year, then its probably not worth you worrying about.

I agree, except that, to clarify, it happened more than once today (for the first time in nearly a year)--perhaps 3 or 4 times. Once the end time of the recording expires, the system frees itself and the recordings simply show in the database as "missed." I have just tried to reconstruct the conditions, but recordings have so far started and stopped as one would expect. I will wait until a recurrence, and post that information.

Basically that one line I quoted, over and over. Unfortunately there is no contextual information around it in the log, so I cant tell why its happening. From the error message I can in which function in the code, but its a bit function that does alot, so it could be just about anything. Sorry.

Oh! Sorry, I didn't see the error quoted before. Yes, I understand completely why one could not troubleshoot this error in isolation. I will post more in the case of a recurrence...so far, so good. Thank you for your help.
