The mainconcept soft encoder filters are not installed on your machine so it doesnt look for soft encoding analog devices.

Why would it be looking for MainConcept filters, and is there anything i can do about it? I can only assume that it might have been part of some codec pack I may have installed at some time.

These MainConcept filters are the SoftPVR components installed with the Hauppauge software, and is what NPVR uses for soft encoding analog TV. It wont work without them.

Sub,

what needs to come from the WinTV install for SoftPVR to work?
In my folder, I have only some ax files, and a DLL
I only installed WinTV to get the analog side going.

I know on my WinTV CD there is a softMCE setup folder, maybe this is required for users?

On XP I just registered these & it worked, I'm not sure if they are all necessary

regsvr32 C:\Progs\SoftPVR\hcw_mcmpeg2mux.ax
regsvr32 C:\Progs\SoftPVR\hcw_mcm2ve.ax
regsvr32 C:\Progs\SoftPVR\hcw_mcl2ae.ax

For hardware encoder devices it only uses the 'MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus' filter. For soft encoder device it needs that mux filter, plus 'MainConcept (HCW) MPEG-2 Video Encoder' and 'MainConcept (HCW) Layer II Audio Encoder'.

Oh, I wonder if it didn't install the software encoders because I have a HVR2200 (wasn't sure if it checked what card or not) and would not require those filters

Cheers

Although I have the .ax files, I cannot register them. (The specified module could not be found).
