Yeah, at first it seemed like a reasonable supposition, but it's impossible to tell since the second instance of NextPVR.exe doesn't write to the log file. I'm reasonably sure no additional instances of NextPVR have been launched today, but I can't be absolutely sure. My wife's Daytime Emmy show is being recorded (and watched) right now, and it does show it's status as "Recording" in Pending, so it looks like that one is going ok.

I think what I'll do for now is unbind the green button on the remote so there's no chance of someone accidentally launching another copy of NextPVR, just to make sure that's not the issue. If there's no resolution in a few days I may have to just give in to my wife's demands and go back to GB-PVR for awhile.

This patch stops two copies of NextPVR.exe from running. The second attempt will just switch the existing instance to the foreground.

I'm sure the reported status problem isnt a biggy, but I've been too busy with day job stuff to investigate it today.

i think i discovered the problem. for some reason my epg wont always automatically reload and when i go into guide it is empty. I then manually reload it and it displays all the epg data in the guide except the scheduled recordings are not showing as red until i exit the nextpvr and go back in.

for one of my scheduled recordings i rescheduled when it was not showing as red and it now records it twice everytime the show is broadcast and this recording is one that always says the "failed because recording service not running" but records OK

I'v seen this problem also, show is not red and I beleive it's not scheduled so I schedule it again, and get two recordings. But sometimes both recordings are ok, sometimes one is marked as failed, but I also get false failed recordings without the double schedule.

Anyway the issue that scheduled shows not marked red should be fixed, very confusing when they are not.

Thanks for the patch sub, I'll put it in now.

The other recordings so far tonight have completed normally.

edit:
sub, the patch doesn't seem to change anything. I put it in place of the original NextPVR.exe, but I can still open multiple instances of it. I have user account control off, and I double-checked that there's nothing in the AppData/Local/VirtualStore directory. I even deleted the prefetch. The file you posted is dated 6/28/2010, 5:24pm. You're across the international date line from me, so is that seems like almost a day ago? Perhaps that's not the right copy of the file?

I did get a couple of occurances of double-scheduled recordings when I first setup my EPG, but after I emptied and reloaded the epg and then deleted the duplicate scheduled recordings, that issue has not re-occurred.

I started a recording from TV Guide and monitored the status in Recordings - The 'failed' warning first appears just after the program's scheduled end time (excluding 2 mins post-padding). You can see the 'failed' status being set in the log at 22:25:20 - the scheduled end time was 22:25.

I just tripple checked, and its definitely working for me. If the app is minimised, it restored it and switches the focus to it. If the app was behind other windows, then its brought to the foreground.

Is the time on your file 4:24 pm?
