Which analogue tuner cards does NPVR support

It should be able to use any hardware encoder card but you still have to have the Hauppauge SoftPVR components installed (only for the mux). Might need to add an entry for it in AnalogDevices.xml though. I wish my 550 still worked but it bluescreens my machine.

What's the format to add things to the AnalogueDevice.xml file? I've attached the FilterCheck log file.

Regarding the SoftPVR components, whats the filename of the required "MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus" mux?

hwc_mcmpeg2mux.ax but according to your filtercheck, your 550 doesn't have a hardware encoder. I thought they were all hardware encoders, oh well. Try adding the following:

I think you will need the MainConcept Audio and Video encoder filters as well though. I don't know the names of those, sorry.

yea, i have a usb2 550 and it also doesn't have a hardware decoder..
but seeing as it defaults to 320x240 and we can't change that yet, i'm holding off trying it..
[it does do 720x480, but only if you set it, default is low res]

How do you tune analogue channels? Do I have to select Fixed Channel or Tuner? :confused: Is there no scanning/tuning feature?

edit: I set Fixed channel and then looked up the required frequency for my local analogue transmitter. But I still would like to know what the Tuner option is for and is there a scanning feature.

Just like GBPVR there is no scanning option. Maybe in a future release though. Analog hasnt really had much dedicated time, I almost decided to ignore analog entirely in NPVR. I've been all-digital for years. (this was at a stage when NPVR was originally going to be something very different to GBPVR).

You use 'Tuner' if an antenna or cable system is plugged directly into your tuner card. You use 'Fixed-Channel' if you're receiving analog channels from a set top box or VCR. For example, you might have a set top box with 100 different channels always output on CH3 - so you tuner card needs to stay on a 'fixed channel' instead of retuning for each channel.

Aha. I've never used this card with GB-PVR, I thought I'd put it in my other PC to try the NPVR betas.

I've added a couple channels, each using a different 'fixed channel'. My first thought was to set it to tuner (as the antenna is directly connected to the tuner card), but I couldn't see where to enter the frequency for the channel?

It worked for me in Windows 7 in NPVR before I replaced it with a digital usb stick. But it might not work with any version of the drivers. Under GBPVR it only worked with some older drivers. Unfortunately I do not recall the version.
