Removing of paranthesis on file names

Is there a way to hide all the "[ ]" around folder and file names?

A tweak in the skin or in config.xml maybe?

"@name", which the default skin uses in the library screens, has the square brackets around folder names. "@name2" is also available, which does not have them.
