I don't know if it is an illegal character in the EPG XML or a parsing error but I get the following error box with this in the log when mapping DVB-T channels to the EPG. Manually removing the & - ampersand character fixes it.

Code:
2010-09-02 22:07:37.586    [ERROR][1]    Unexpected error parsing xmltv file: System.Xml.XmlException: An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 42243, position 164.

Its a problem with the xmltv file. Ampersand is an invalid character in xml and needs to be escaped for it to be a valid xml file.

I think this ampersand is legit for xml, but it is missing ; ie &pound; for £

That one I quoted has gone away now, but similar error with this one. The error occurs when when I was mapping DVB-T channels and I was using a full Radio Times EPG rather than my more normal, limited selection.

Code:
<programme start="20100903080000 +0100" stop="20100903090000 +0100" channel="UK_RT_2566">
    <title lang="en">Happy Ever After</title>
    <desc lang="en">We cordially invite you to look back at the wedding of Vicky and Matt. It took three years and &pound;40,000 to achieve their winter wedding day, complete with singing waiters and a snow machine.</desc>

    <length units="minutes">60</length>
  </programme>

Well I guess I was only partially right yesterday &pound; isn't valid in XML either, it should be & followed by #163;

OK Cheers both, I'll bounce it back to the Radio Times.
Browsing http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/ doesn't find it - unless it is defined earlier with an Entity command. The only predefined ones seem to be amp, lt, gt, apos, quot

Sorry for reporting a false positive Wink
