Sorry, the NMT is a smarter client and can use the new timing info in NPVR but because of the way mvpmc and NPVR interact it would not be feasible. Even post processing these files will be difficult.

Hi Martin, is there something like a "NPVR & MVP Guide For Dummies"? Wink I'm trying to give NPVR a try, but I'm not sure how to configure mvpmc for use with NPVR. I copied the dongle to the Dongle directory under NPVR and named it dongle.bin. However, my MVP just gets stuck at searching for MVPMediaBootServer, even though I have 4 servers enabled in Settings. The MVP works great with GBPVR and an older dongle, so I'm sure I'm not doing something right with the setup for NPVR.

Thanks!

The two most likely causes of problems on a working GBPVR setup would be either forgetting to disable the GBPVR server or not allowing NextPVR.exe for TCP and UDP through your firewall for the local network.

D'oh! The good old firewall was standing right in the way. My MVP's have just been working for so long that I forgot about that. Sad Thanks for the quick response!

I got to play with it a bit this afternoon before I had to re-enable GBPVR to record the shows Mrs. H3 had set to grab this evening. Like others, I noticed the bizarre timeline with negative numbers if I hit the blue button. The "Menu" key doesn't function for me like it did with GBPVR. The screen gets a sort of shadow effect, but doesn't go to the menu until I also press the OK button. Is this the new normal or do I still have a bit of tweaking to do?

Thanks for having a try, could you upload your mvp logs and I will have a look.

Thanks Martin! Logs attached. Let me know if you need me to do anything specific and I'll be glad to help out. I don't watch TV much but my wife loves to record her favorites. ALL of our viewing is done via MVP's, from a headless server, so without MVP support I'll be stuck with 1.4.7. Sad

This morning I noticed that pressing "Menu" brings up a very small popup at the top left corner of the screen. From the Recordings menu I can select Back, Sort, or Man-Rec. The default selection is Back, so I suppose that's why it would go to the menu when I pressed OK yesterday. I didn't even notice the popup yesterday, probably due to the screen glare in the afternoon. I suppose that perhaps this is normal for NPVR?

HarryH3, do you have the config.xml setting for you MVP? It looks like it is defaulting to 720x480 and no accounting for overscan offsets which I don't think is going to render well.

I suggest starting with

580
420
30
30

I'm still looking at the timeline problem.

Now that I think about it, I copied over my old settings (From using the MVP Position Plugin long ago) from GBPVR last night, after those logs were created. Perhaps that is why I wasn't seeing the popup yesterday.:o

The timeline problem seems somewhat random. Some shows work perfectly, while others have bizarre timelines. I also noticed this morning that when I stop a show and then "Resume" it, the total time at the right of the position bar shows up correctly, but the marker shows that it started at 00:00, even if it resumed to 20 minutes into the show. Perhaps that can help pinpoint the issue?
