I've been using the Cyberlink PDVD10 decoder to play BBC-HD h.264 recordings, but noticed they tended to be a bit jerky (dropped frames?). I tried using MPC to play the same files and they were definately smoother. Looking at the original PDVD graph, I noticed that the average frame rate was only about 16. Whereas MPC was hitting 50.

When I looked at the graphs, I noticed that the MPC was using the MS DTV-DVD filter. However when I change to that in N-PVR (and in GBPVR) I just get a black screen, although the graph shows everything is loaded.

I notice from the forum that other people are succesfully using the MS-DTV filter. Any suggestions where to go next? npvr log attached.

This is on a D525 Atom/Ion2, W7P client running a locally stored copy of the H.264 BBC HD recording.
The recording plays fine on a PCH.

Still having no joy getting the MS DTV-DVD filter to display, but I have found that the stuttering in N-PVR whilst using the PDVD10 filter was caused by it having the hardware acceleration turned off (in the filter properties screen on Decoders). That is despite using SAF5 and the DXVA on switch. I can only assume that something is different because this is an ION2.

Oddly, I tried to turn the same DXVA switch on in GBPVR and it won't stay on.

Edit:
The problem seems to be that the DXVA switch defaults back to SW in the properties page of the PDVD10 filters (SD and H.264) in N-PVR. If you go in and change it to HW, it works, but if you go in again, the radio button has switched back to SW. The same applies in GBPVR. This only applies with PDVD10, PDVD9 is fine, but that doesn't seem to work as well with my ION2.

Have you got acceptable performance out of the PDVD10 decoder for BBC HD? Ever since they went VBR, I've found that decoder unusable (hence switched to the MS DTV-DVD one - and I have no idea why you're getting a blank screen from it).

Hi BigMoose.

You are correct, without the HW acceleration on (see edit above) it's very jerky. With it on, I do still get the odd stutter. MPC and PDVD10 play recorded shows without a blink though, which is frustrating.

I've tried the MS DTV-DVD filter on both ION and ION2 Win7 PC's and in GBPVR and N-PVR - same result - black screen.

The black screen was resolved by installing the latest WHQL nvidia drivers from the nvidia website. MS DTV-DVD now workin smoothly.

cool, maybe i will try my nv220 again since it hasn't worked right since i got it a while back..
seemed like it was never going to work right because of the drivers...they were very poor when it came out.
[wouldn't accelerate anything] not a single decoder would work properly.
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie
